The biggest selling point with the Grand Olympic is it's location - you are only a 10 minute walk to St Peter's Square and the Vatican museum, etc. Also, plenty of shops and restaurants around the corner and a 25 minute walk to the main shopping area. The hotel wasn't 4 star compared to UK 4 star hotels but it was perfectly fine for us. The room had excellent aircon, the bathroom was in great condition, shower was very warm at night but cold in the morning. The breakfast is included and was perfectly adequate to start you off on your day. Nothing hot but continental choices, lovely croissants, as much tea or coffee as you wanted, cereal etc. Again, not the Ritz but for the price it was great. Staff were helpful and welcoming. If we return I would book again.

Filthy room. It looked like the floor had not been cleaned in some time. It Smelled like sewer gas. It was so disgusting we couldn’t sleep. They would not let us change rooms. There were boogers on the shower walls and NO hot water. Do NOT stay here!

Great location if you’re going to the Vatican City (5 minute walk). The staff is very friendly and the rooms are always clean. It is an ok hotel. I would stay there again.

Outstanding Experience at the Grand Hotel Olympic! I cannot say enough good things about my stay at the Grand Hotel Olympic in Rome. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional — they even checked me in seven hours earlier than the standard check-in time, which was a lifesaver after a long journey. The staff were professional, courteous, and genuinely eager to help with anything I needed. The room itself was spotless, with a spacious layout and a surprisingly large and well-appointed restroom — a real luxury in Rome! The location could not be better: just a five-minute walk to St. Peter’s Square and equally close to the metro (subway), which made getting to all the major sites easy and convenient without worrying about Rome’s notorious traffic. Breakfast each morning was fantastic. For those new to European breakfasts, expect fresh breads, deli meats, and cheeses — but on some days, they even offered a full hot breakfast, which was a wonderful bonus. Everything was fresh and delicious. If (or rather, when) I come back to Rome, I will absolutely stay here again without hesitation. The Grand Hotel Olympic truly made my trip unforgettable.

My family and I had a super stay at the Grand Hotel Olympic in April 2025. We were travelling with our 8 and 4 year olds and they both had an excellent stay. The hotel is in a great location, minutes from the Vatican, but feels much quieter compared to many other areas of the city. It only takes about 20 minutes to walk to the heart of the city. Our room was very good, with a spacious bathroom and decent wifi signal to keep the little people busy when back from a busy day of sightseeing. The breakfast was a welcome perk, with it being a great way to start the day with plenty of options available. A great option for families wanting to experience Rome! Highly recommend.

You can hear every move from other rooms like light switches, main/cabinet door opening/closing, running water, toilet flushing not to mention loud people next door. It was a long sleepless night. I had to complaint about the noise at midnight and 6am.

Great hotel with breakfast included super close to Vatican City. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend just be warned that all the rooms are lined with tile, so you can hear the upstairs people move about the hotel. So, if there are busy body nighttime people, you might have a tough time falling asleep! Otherwise, great hotel and would go again, but it does attract a younger more active (at night) demographic.

Not a great stay… My two-night stay at Grand Hotel Olympic was full of issues, and I wouldn’t stay here again. I usually don’t write hotel reviews, but this experience was bad enough to change that. I travel at least twice a year, and this was one of the worst stays I’ve had. Room & Bathroom Issues The bathroom sink was covered in laundry lint when I arrived—no idea how that even happens. Housekeeping came to clean it and change the sheets, but those had stains and hair on them. The bathroom itself had a loose towel rack, a tiny shower with no space for toiletries, and a leak. On my second day, the toilet stopped flushing, and I had to call maintenance. Unpleasant Environment The hotel smelled heavily of smoke, especially near the breakfast area, where staff and maintenance gathered to smoke. As a non-smoker, it was awful to walk through every morning. Lack of Basic Amenities When I asked for an iron, I was told they don’t keep them for “guest safety.” Most hotels at least have a designated area for ironing. Unhelpful Staff The front desk was no help when I got stuck due to a marathon blocking the entrance. Instead of offering solutions, I had to spend two hours figuring it out myself, ultimately missing my train and losing over €100. Final Thoughts This hotel is rated 4 stars, but that’s far from reality. At best, it’s a 1 or maybe 2 stars. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Rome.
