Some areas of the hotel are a bit older and faded, but it's all spotlessly clean, the staff are hepful, and it's right in the centre and yet you cant hear the noise.
It's not the fanciest, but it was perfect for what I needed, and Spice Alley is a great spot to eat.
This hotel is literally a 5-10 minute walk from Central (train) Station so it has "location, location, location" as its big selling point if you are using public transport. Trains also arrive/depart for Sydney Airport from Central. The light rail is also close and takes you through the heart of the city (via George Street) all the way to Circular Quay.
The room I had (room #301) was quite clean and spacious plus the bed had a firm mattress (which I like.) It had a double shower in one cubicle, toilet in another and the wash basin in the central lounge/bed area.
I had stayed in the room directly below it (room #201) a couple of weeks prior and it had a different configuration (toilet, single shower and basin in the one cubicle.)
Supermarket is a 2 minute walk away for essentials.
There's also a side lane (Kensington Street) 1 minute walk away that contains a range of (mostly) asian restaurants.
The location could be problematic for some in relation to noise levels.
Broadway is a busy street coupled with the room not being very well sound-insulated so:
a) It is adjacent to a pub (Bar Broadway) that has music playing until the early hours (6am) on the weekend.
b) Broadway has many bus interchanges not far away.
c) There seemed to be a lot of (ambulance) sirens during the night.
It didn't bother me at all but, if you are a light sleeper or are disturbed by noise, this may not be the hotel that best suits your needs.
I will certainly stay at Riseon again when next in Sydney.
Hotel is literally 5-6 minutes walk (with luggage) from Central Station (train) so very conveniently located if intending to use public transport to get around Sydney. There's also a bus interchange about halfway to the station.
As they say "location, location, location" and this certainly has that in spades.
Front desk staff are courteous and quick. Check-in was very easy.
Room 201 is excellent as it is well laid out. It appears far larger than it actually is (which is a good thing) This is the room we would prefer to have during any future visits to Sydney.
Shower/toilet/wash basin all in same room. This may be a problem for some people but for us, it was the perfect set-up.
Supermarket, restaurants and pubs are within a 3 minute walk in almost any direction so also very conveniently located.
Would definitely stay again as it is inexpensive.
This property has seen better days. I had a ‘deluxe king’ room. There was nothing ‘deluxe’ about it. It was certainly clean and freshly painted but the flooring has been ruined by a water incident or similar and there were no floor coverings - it would be cold to walk on in winter. Bed was fine, closet was sub Ikea. Window curtains did not fully cover the windows. In general I would rate it 2.5 stars. But the location is unbeatable and the staff were very helpful.
Property was great value for money. Clean, well equipped room. Very convenient location, short walk to Central Station. Staff were friendly & helpful. Highly recommend.
