Nice hotel, but very poor in-room wireless

Cons: In-Room Wireless
Everything about this hotel was nice, except that the in-room wireless reception was horrible. For the record, I stayed in room 401, and I'm not sure if it's a hotel-wide problem. But in my particular room, it was dial-up quality from the 90s. Someone came and checked it out for me, and he said it was because there were too many people online. I didn't bother to point out that THIS IS A HOTEL. If that was truly the reason for the problem, then it's an easy fix and they ought to take care of it. But other than that (which is super-important to us business travelers,) it was nice, and the restaurant food was excellent.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the wireless internet. Together with our in house IT liaison we are looking into the issue in order to see about the best way of fixing this issue promptly, as you are correct about how essential high speed WI-FI is for a hotel. I am pleased that the rest of you experience was pleasant. Sincerely, Eugene Vinogradov, General Manager

Wonderful family friendly hotel

From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel welcome. The hotel staff was friendly and, noticing my son, quick to point out the pool hours. I would have liked them to explain the way in which they use your credit card for "incidental" charges a little better. I know it's standard practice, but it's still a little unnerving to see a $100 ($78.20 USD) pending charge on your card. The hotel staff responded promptly to an email I sent regarding this, and the pending charge did drop off as promised after a few days. I didn't experience any hardships because of this, but if you're traveling on a tight budget, this should be something you are aware of. Our room was clean and comfortable, with soft, pristine sheets, comforters, and pillows. The showers have hand showers, which are much appreciated when you're traveling with a little one who prefers baths to showers. The cable went out during our stay, but the Wi-Fi in our roomc worked very well, allowing us to watch a movie online before bed. The breakfast buffet is one of the finest I've ever seen. It included hash browns, eggs, pancakes, yogurts, fresh pastries, oatmeal, and delicious fresh fruit. There's really something for everyone and I strongly recommend upgrading your room to include the buffet. The wait staff was extremely accommodating, helping parents with small children carry plates and coffee cups back to their tables and always checking back to see if we needed anything. Overall, this is a great hotel!

Unauthorized charge put on my charge card

Copy of email I tried to send to the hotel but their website contact page is not working: This is further to my telephone call on Sunday, March 28, 2015 regarding Reservation # 7157PCP520 and the unauthorized $100 charge that you put on my Capital One card that I discovered when I returned home to Kingston. I am 63 years old and have stayed at numerous hotels over 40 plus years and this has never happened before – a charge for incidentals that disappears after a few days – so please do not try to tell me that this is common practice as you tried to do on the phone. I have also checked with fellow employees, none of whom had heard of such a thing. If you do have such a policy at least let your hotel guests in on it so this type of unnecessary bad will is prevented plus the 4 long distance phone calls (since you have no toll free number like every other hotel I have ever stayed at) that I had to make before I could talk to someone. The first 3 calls resulted in immediately being rudely put on hold. This $100 charge was never explained to me by your staff when I checked in or out and was therefore not authorized. The charge finally did disappear Friday, so I had a week to wait wondering if I would have to go through the long distance calls again to get it corrected. This was our first visit to Vaughn and we greatly enjoyed the shopping at Vaughn Mills and plan to return at least once per year. However we will never again stay at the Novotel. Peter

Thank you for taking the time to share you feedback about your experience. I apologize for the for the trouble you have experienced with the authorization on your credit card, although it is standard for hotels to authorize for additional funds as a security deposit we should have done better in informing you in advance and we will make a better effort to be more consistent at this going forward. I hope you will give us another opportunity to accommodate you during your future travel to Vaughan. Sincerely Eugene Vinogradov General Manager

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet, clean, new
My first time at any novotel. The hotel is very new and clean. I wanted to be far from the airport and noise. Very quiet. close to vaughan mills mall. Exceeded my expectations. A little pricy but that's how canada is i guess
