We were so excited to stay here, but on our way there we had a tsunami warning. We called and they told us not to come. We confirmed that we could get a refund. I was only refunded a portion of the amount I paid ahead. I called 5-6 times and was promised a call back, but never got one. Very disappointed to not get a full refund. I hope they make this right, I have always been a big Y supporter and this seems like a wonderful location.
It was a cabin with one big bed on one side and 2 twin beds, plus one upper bunk. AC was great, but much cooler on one side than the other. No indoor table or chairs.
The youth camps were going on at the same time so there was a lot of noise from the kids close by.
The staff did a great job alerting us to the Tsunami threat and where we should go. Also let us know when it was safe to return.
The openess to the ocean was very nice but the property was sketchy and dirty. The pictures of the yurt should show that the bathroom is outside, it is almost open air, unsafe, with no hot water and very dirty. Check-in staff is only available until 16:30, and they do not send written check-in instructions to guests who may arrive later than that, which makes check-in experience horrible. It is terribly expensive for what you get.
Vi hadde et bra opphold pÄ Camp Erdman. Nydelig sted Ä se soloppgangen pÄ fra stranden. Ellers et veldig koselig og stille omrÄde med muligheter for grilling og andre aktiviteter.
Camp Erdman is a hidden gem! My family loved being right on the beach. The yurt had everything we needed except a beach chair. We will definitely come back!
This is an incredible place! Very well done and beautiful views. Bring your snorkel and mask to snorkel the coral heads and see the pretty fish right off the beach below the two yurts beach entrance. Get your food in town and use the grill. No food stores close. Nice keurig, microwave, and mini fridge supplied. Take a square tub and fill with water outside the yurt to dip your feet in to keep sand out of your beds.We will be back this is a gem!
Our stay in the yurts at camp erdman was AMAZING! The breeze that came through the windows at night was so nice for sleeping, the outdoor showers were so nice and there were new covered toilets which was awesome. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a slight power outage issue and they got someone to come and fix it asap. We would absolutely love to stay again â€ïž
A warm welcome from the team for our stay, cabin was great, the team were very helpful, the area is stunningly beautiful with a wonderful beach , they also helped when we got a puncture with a local garage. Cabin was clean and well supplied . Would happily visit again.
Canât beat the location and freedom being located directly on the beach with unrestricted access. Loved all the Humpback whale activity, sunrises and sunsetsâ€ïž Only disappointment was the lack of hot water. Cabin was equipped with a new water heater which wasnât working. Was quite impressed overall and wish to stay there againđ€
Such a breath of fresh air! Only people on the beach were the few guests staying there too. Recommend watching the sunset down the road a ways at KaâEna Point!
Spectacular place! Stunning beach and ocean. If you arenât into camping and rugged areas maybe not your jam. But if you are ok with sand, small bathroom and shower, and sand itâs heaven. Water was rough with waves and rocks. A few areas with sandy beach. At the end of the road there is a state park. You need a pass to open the gate. Wish we got a pass before hand. Highly recommend for camping types.
DO NOT STAY HERE!
I have been to Hawaii too many times to count. There are virtually no choices besides Turtle Bay and the Courtyard by BYU on the North Shore. I am very familiar with the island and am the kind that can "rough it". I understood that this was a YMCA. The photos of the amazing beach drew me into my checking this property out. And the beach is amazing. The rest of the property is not as shown. We noticed that there were many school-aged children on property. Ok. I'm a mother myself. We assumed it was likely a after-school program and the kids would leave after-hours. No. Granted they were across the street, it appeared to be an overnight camp. As a mother, I was uneasy that a YMCA would rent out rooms at a facility with children staying overnight. The beach was amazing. Hands down one of the best. We then went into our cabin to unpack. There was a hole in the lower corner of the front door large enough for any critter to come right in. A gecko crawled across the wall from behind the curtain when we went to turn on the one window A/C Unit; there was a wasp nest near the front door; we found spiders and dead bugs all over and the bathroom was dingy.Carpet in the listing-Cabin was wood floor that was dirty. Shower &toilet had mold. We left and went back to Honolulu. There one hour total. Upon Hotels.com customer service contact, YMCA would not refund the $414.35 for the two nights of my booking. $207/per night? See pics below.
It was great being right on the water. Check in and out was great. Our tent was very clean. The water in this area of this island is very rough. Unable to ocean swim. The outdoor shower water is freezing. We went at colder time of year. The TP got soaking wet when rained. Outside bathroom has no roof. The grounds was not kept up. There were homeless people sleeping in mangroves around the area. I didn't fell unsafe but just a little uneasy. I think any camping area around the island has a homeless population.
If you are looking for glitz and glam of Hawaii, this is NOT the place for you.
If you are looking for the best scenery in Hawaii, the softest sand, perfect sunsets, no crowds and can stand a little bit of rustic, then this IS your place.
It is not nice or new but we stayed 2 nights in one of the beachside cabins. Staff was very friendly and accommodating only if needed otherwise left us alone. The beach is great and you can hear the waves through the night.
Again, if you are looking for a hotel or resort, this is not the place. It is glamping only because you have running water/ toilet/shower in your cabin.
If thats your style (like ours) then this is a must!
