Pros:
Great location- across the street from Queen's Beach, close to Diamond Head, zoo, aquarium, restaurants and transportation.
Nice pool area with a decent view of the beach.
Okay rooms- the double room is more like a 2.5 star.
Relatively quiet and decent beds.
Friendly housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff.
Decent Happy Hour at Tikis. The spiral fries are great.
Things to Consider:
Slightly dated hotel and some bugs.
Hotel fees lack transparency. We were aware of the daily resort fee and welcome amenities, but hotel needs to do a better job explaining details. For example, cabana rentals are not included ($60 fee). I inquired about cabanas prior to arrival and wasn't told about the fee- just that they were first come, first served.
Pool towels were often short (rationed at times).
Beach Candy credits cannot be carried over, day to day. Each room receives 3 credits per night, regardless of number of guests. Not good value for family of 4 in one room i.e., one person always without a beach chair.
Coconut Club breakfast- good for 2 adults 2 children (12 & under), but you pay extra for children over 12- wish this was better explained.
Holiday season events could be better posted. A printed calendar, Instagram posts or website link instead of the sandwich board (often not updated) in lobby or QR code at the front desk would be more practical.
