Beautiful apartment close to everything Charleston
We had a lovely time in Charleston and thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. It is beautiful and has everything you need. Itâs close to every fun part of Charleston. Quaint and convenient. We loved it.
Perfect location if you want to be close to downtown. It is noisy with all the night life but we were expecting that. It's tucked away in a charming alley. It had everything we needed but there was no first aid kit. The bed was really comfortable but watch out for the bed frame! My husband gouged his toes a couple times and I had bruises all over my legs for walking into the sides. We aren't that clumsy, the bed is very large for the small room and the legs stick out. I feel so silly evening mentioning it but it was quite inconvenient. Overall a very charming place.
Smaller, minimalist apartment good for a couple. Bed and linens were fabulous...I ordered a bed covering that they use. Small kitchen with only basics. Bathroom on the small size. TV in living room not user friendly. No screens on windows and all painted shut.
A loud party going on next door for 2 nights, but manager called and they shut it down. Communication to manager was excellent!
Bottle of wine and chocolates complimentary.
Close to most everything we wanted to see. Small parking space provided. Good a/c and ceiling fans.
Good space for a short period of time.
We had a nice stay at this location. It was a quick walk to King St., many restaurants and public transportation. That was very important to us.
Parking can be an issue if you have a larger car. They do warn you to consider renting an economy sized car, however we drove our Pathfinder there. The space assigned to the location is between two other spaced assigned to other locations. It is a very tight squeeze. There appears to be a space on the other side of the alley that at times we saw a car parked in. Fortunately we never we had to move our car with a car parked in that space. It would have been very difficult to do. It can be a little muddy when it rains â maybe some flat stones could be put down by the stairway? Also the bush could be trimmed back a bid to allow to more fully pull into the space. We always backed in.
We had a couple of minor issues during the stay and the management was quick to respond to remedy them both. They were very accommodating.
We found the kitchen well stocked and had pretty much everything we needed. The only thing we could have used was a larger pot to boil pasta. Internet worked fine. We never used a Roku before. It was adequate for us. Never use the foldout couch. The king sized bed upstairs was very comfortable. It was nice to retire to that after a day of walking around the city. The unit is fine for two people, maybe can fit a smaller child or two.
We enjoyed this place but it had a few flaws worth mentioning but none of them are major. The bed was comfy, the towels were nice and the air worked well. I really enjoyed having separate living room space apart from the bedroom. Itâs an old property so there were some expected things like really steep stairs, etc. The light switches were also crazy and most switches we found did nothing. Lots of trial and error to find the lights but thatâs not a big deal. The kitchen is not great if you plan to cook. There is no salt/pepper, no cooking spray or oil or anything to help you cook so you will need to bring everything you need outside of the cookware, plates, utensils which they had available. Thereâs a firehouse nearby so occasionally we awoke to sirens but again, not a big deal. We missed having regular broadcast TV as the Olympics were on and we struggled to watch it using the Roku system. But it was a good location, close to many places while at the same time being a bit tucked away off the street. It was clean when we arrived and the tiny patio was a sweet spot for morning coffee. Overall, a nice place in the heart of the city.
The location was perfect. Walking distance to anything you wanted to do in the entire city. Very easy to work with the owners as well. Very happy with our experience.
Carpet in bedroom appeared not to have been vacuumed before our stay as it was dirty; not a stich of food in kitchen (e.g. salt and pepper, sugar, nothing); no knife in the kitchen to cut anything; soap dispenser in bathroom didn't work, used a bar; the apartment was very cold when we arrived at 4:30 pm and after some head scratching and my first call to Fallon, I determined thermostat wasn't working because it needed a new battery (at closer look the screen was flashing "Low Batt"). I phoned Fallon and she asked me to figure out what size battery it needed. I couldn't readily see where the battery was, so she asked me to take a photo of the actual thermostat and send to her. You'd have thought someone would have done a walk-through before our arrival to check on it's status, or at least I'd assume that. At this point, we left and went to my daughter's apartment... because at least it had heat.

Very Cute Place
Overall, really delightful. The management just needs to sharpen-up a bit. I loved the small patio entry with table and chairs but I had to do some 'gardening' (removing lots of dead leaves) before my friends arrived. That's the entrance to the place so it really needed to be done. No dish towels of any sort in the kitchen and that was very frustrating.
The bed is super comfortable. I enjoyed myself aside from the frustrations. It felt like the little place was somewhat ignored or someone failed to do a walk-thru before I arrived.
I loved the location...so close to King St and lots of great eating places.
Filthy place (donât trust the pictures!) & Irresponsible owners
-Irresponsible owners: Did not get a call/email with instructions on checking-in- - where to get the key, where to park, etc. till 50 mins till check-in time. Had to track down the owner by calling VRBOâs customer service.
- !!!FILTHY PLACE!!!- donât trust the pictures: The floor- it was so dirty, our feet turned black with dirt sticking to it only after about 10 minutes of walking around the house. Went upstairs to use a restroom- no toilet paper was provided. The toilet paper holder was actually pulled out of the wall as it looked like. Thank God we had baby-wipes and found a little bit of paper towels downstairs. The bathroomâs floor was even dirtier with hair everywhere. The bedroom upstairs- there was champagne bottle cork and a bottle of water that someone didnât finish on the floor to the right side of the bed. There were long and short dog-like hair on the bed and pillows. We went to take the shower- the towels were folded but looked dirty with brown and black spots on them. At night when we pulled out the sheets for the pull-out couch, there was only one pillow case- we ended up using the sham pillow case from upstairs. And THE WORST of all, the bedroom sheets were not clean and fresh! Not only they looked like someone already slept on them, there were white spots and dark oily spots all over the sheets, which was disgusting! So, thanks to that we just waited for another 1.5 hours till late night washing and drying sheets and towels from earlier. On top of that, the washer had good bit of sand it in, so we had to clean it first as well. While sitting around waiting for the sheets, decided to waste some time on-line. The wi-fi network and password provided on the propertyâs Wi-Fi section under the VRBO account did not work. We had to contact Daisy around midnight, but did not hear back till next morning. Next morning we woke up to make breakfast, and found dirty dishes in the dishwasher. So we had to wash the dishes before we were able to eat from them. We were charged a high cleaning fee aside from the rental cost for professional cleaning, which turned out to be a scam really . No cleaning was done at all.
Weâve done rentals from owners via the online portals about 10 times, and it is the worst experience weâve ever had!
