I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Dry Ridge and overall had a positive experience, with just a few areas that could be improved.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, setting a great tone. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and in a quiet location. I stayed on the 4th floor facing the wooded area, which offered a nicer view than the north side that overlooks another hotel and parking lot. Though near the highway, I only noticed light road noise that was never disruptive.
The room felt spacious with two beds, and the desk and chair setup was comfortable and practical. I liked that the desk chair was leather-like rather than cloth, giving it a clean look. Lighting was sufficient, though most bulbs gave off a bluish daylight tone that felt harsh at night.
Cleanliness was mostly excellent, though the AC filters were clogged. I rinsed them out myself, but it had clearly been overlooked. The toilet paper holder wasn’t installed well, and the shower splashed water when I tried filling the tub.
The pool area was a disappointment. The chlorine smell was very strong, and with 10 or so kids in the pool, the acoustics made the room loud and echoey.
Breakfast was average. The pancake machine was down both mornings, no bacon, and the OJ was watered down. The highlight was the coffee machine, which ground fresh beans & tasted excellent.
All in all, the stay was comfortable, quiet, and enjoyable. A few small improvements would make it even better.
