Originally built by Joe back when time moved a little slower, summer days seemed to melt into one another and family and friends gathered on porches to enjoy light conversation and cocktails while benefiting from the evening breeze. This lovely, updated 1950's private home helps you step back into a simpler time, curling up with a good book, living shoeless and never needing to get into your car unless you absolutely must leave the Island.
As you enter the home you are greeted with original heart pine floors, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and an open and airy floor plan with two seating areas and dining room. Equipped with a fully stocked kitchen for all your dining/food preparation needs. The kitchen opens up directly to the front wrap around porch and also to a lovely seating area inside. Perfect layout for friends and family to gather while the chef prepares the evening meal, while not being excluded from the conversations and happenings of the day. Off of the kitchen you will find the main living room along with a Roku Flat Screen TV for all your viewing needs. This home has Direct TV and WIFI. Dining Room is directly off and open to the main living room. Dining Table is set for six people and there's additional seating for three at the bartop in the adjacent kitchen area.
The Master Suite is located on one side of the home, off to itself. This room was just updated in early 2020 with a new King mattress. A closet, chest of drawers and two luggage racks complete the space. All beds are prepared with 100% cotton linens. The spacious bathroom on this side of the home has a spacious walk-in shower and double pedestal sinks. The queen bedroom is furnished with a luggage rack and has plenty of hooks to hang personal items. The bathroom in this bedroom was completely remodeled in late 2019. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and plenty of cabinet space for clothing and bath items. The twin bedroom has 3 twin beds with an additional twin bed in a smaller nook. This room can sleep 4 and has it's own bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Front, covered wrap around porch has a comfortable seating area with a private natural screen. The front yard is fully fenced. Large, open back yard with outdoor gas grill and private outdoor shower with running hot/cold water. Washer/Dryer are located in the "crab shack" which is not attached to the house but directly off the porch in it's own separate building.
This home is ground level and perfect for those who might have difficulty navigating stairs. The maximum capacity for this house is 8 people at any time. This is not an event home. There's plenty of off street parking in the back yard. No Smoking Inside. No pets.

Great Beach House

This is a great place to stay! There is a bedroom on each side of the house for couples and one in the middle that would be good for kids. The beach is very close with only a 2-3 minute walk. The front porch is a nice shady spot all day to relax on. The house is clean and comfortable with everything one would need. There are 6 beach chairs and a beach wagon so no need to bring all that stuff. They also provide several beach towels. The manager is very responsive and easy to communicate with. We would love to stay here again sometime!

Great beach cottage!

We had five family members staying at the house for a few days for a college graduation. We love quaint and quirky beach cottages, which is why we picked this home. The house was perfect for us, slept all of us with no problems, and we used the outside front patio the most to hang out. The location is just incredible as you have a very short walk to Bert‘s market and the beach as well as restaurants and shops. The house had all the amenities you need and we really enjoyed our stay.

Saving the day

We came to Folly for the weekend to celebrate our daughters masters graduation. Our original rental was not acceptable and we had to scramble to find another house. Joes Folly was available last minute and the property managers happy to help us out. The house was perfect - great location!!

Memorable Unique Beach Home

We gathered a small group of family and celebrated life! We marveled at how cozy and pretty the home was and it had every TV ing we needed to make a fantastic shrimp and grits dinner! We also went out to the local places and of course, walked to Bert’s and Chico Feo many times. We had a blast and this special home made our stay perfect!

Amazing Hidden Gem

Joe’s Folly was perfect for my brother’s bachelor party! It’s a beautiful little piece of property that comfortable slept 7, and was close enough to everything from the beach to downtown Charleston that we never felt removed from where we wanted to go! The hosts were incredibly communicative, helpful, and kind, and followed through even after our stay was over with things that may have been left behind. I would book this property again in a heartbeat if I’m planning another trip to Folly Beach!

Good for family; close to beach

Well maintained and nicely updated vintage house easy walk to beach. Quiet indoors even though facing busy Ashley. Easy parking access from Cooper and mature trees shade the house most of the day. Small fenced yard for little kids - but don’t trust a curious 3 year old anyway. Never heard or saw a neighbor.

“Family” Getaway

We were a group of 8, two families of 4, including a pair of 22 year olds and a pair of 19 year olds. Joes Folly was perfect! The house is furnished beautifully. We spent a lot of time on the porch. We appreciated the proximity to the beach, town and Bert’s. The second fridge came in handy. This property is #1 on our list for next year!
