About this property

Historic Downtown Carriage House

This upstairs apartment is in a classic looking 1920's stone carriage house in a prime location in center of historic downtown Flagstaff. The property (which is also my home) is entirely enclosed with a quaint lighted stone and cedar wall with free off-street parking, stone fire pit and sitting terrace, trees, seasonal flowers and vines, and grassy lawn (Please Note: they all lose their foliage during winter months. Yes, some guests have asked why the landscape color is gone in the winter time ... :-). You'll be within just a few minutes walking distance to dozens of shops, restaurants, nightlife, and public transportation. It's warm, cozy, secluded, accessible - you’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the location, and the lighted enclosed exterior and fire-pit stone terrace. This is a perfect place for all types of travelers and activities.

This malapai stone house is a perfect mix of classic and modern, with warm wood interiors and modern updates, including hydronically heated wood floors and a freshly remodeled bathroom. The kitchen is original with a few aesthetic improvements, and the queen bed is new and comfortable. In addition, the entire house is on a charcoal filtration water system.

An excellent stay in every respect. The host, Jac, gave us a thorough and warm introduction to the property and checked in with us during our one week stay to ensure things were going smoothly. Our apartment was clean, charming, tastefully furnished, and within easy walking distance of sights and restaurants downtown. We could hear the trains but not enough to keep us awake or be an annoyance in any way. The kitchen is first rate and parking easy. We appreciated the sightseeing recommendations in various books, magazines and pamphlets left in the apartment. On checkout, Jac asked for constructive suggestions and we don’t have any — everything was first rate.

This is a very nice, convenient place to stay near downtown Flagstaff. Far enough away from the train tracks so you don’t hear the 77 trains that come through daily, but walkable to downtown Flagstaff. We used the apartment as a base for many varied outdoor adventures. My only complaint is that if you enjoy sleeping in, the apartment is very bright and the sun comes up early in June. The host was very easy to work with and I would recommend this as a place to stay if you are looking for a room near downtown Flagstaff.

Joe gave us a tour of the property when we arrived and made sure we have everything we needed including providing a secure indoor location to store our mountain bikes. We were 6 minutes from the museum of northern Arizona and 8 minutes from the Schultz creek trail system (beautiful) the home was clean, comfortable and we wished we were staying longer.
