Hibiki - Ideal Location in Gion, Exquisite Machiya
The house keeps its machiya character while offering modernity and comfort. It has an area of 100 sqm of living space over 2 floors. Hibiki will meet all your needs: a spacious fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a heated western-style living room with a Japanese garden on one side and a beautiful interior courtyard on the other.
Description of the house
Hibiki House is a modern style machiya house, a perfect fusion of traditional Japanese architecture and western comfort. It was born from a project in collaboration with Kyoto University and obtained the certification of "Hesei no Kyo-machiya". Conceptually, a "Heisei no Kyo Machiya" house is not just a building, it must also have an open space. This space is an important element in the composition of the house and it fulfills various functions: it allows better flow of winds for natural air conditioning in the house, and maximum brightness thanks to the sliding doors and large windows that are installed.
On the ground floor there is a very spacious western living / dining room, kitchen, private Japanese garden, terrance, shower and restroom.
Upstairs has a western bedroom with a work desk and a Japanese style bedroom with cozy Japanese style futon mattresses. Up to 7 people can sleep comfortably at Hibiki House. There is also a Japanese bathroom, laundry room, and toilet upstairs.
The neighborhood
The house is located in the southern part of Gion, a district famous for its maiko and geiko. Also close to the Matsubara street which leads to the wonderful Kiyomizu-dera temple, one of Kyoto's major symbols, the area has lots of great restaurants and is great for enjoying Kyoto.
The Kennin-ji temple devoted to zen buddhism is also close. Walk through it and you'll discover the magnificent and bustling Hanamikoji street. It is bordered with traditional houses, luxurious restaurants and tea houses visited every night by rich clients looking for some fun.
We loved our stay so much at this house in Kyoto. Rhe location was amazing, so many beautiful temples to walk to and grocery stores and delicious restaurants. The house was perfect for my family of 5. It was nice to be able to cook breakfast each morning and save a little money. The host was very easy to het ahold of and very helpful. We would definitely stay again next time we are in Japan.
Hibiki is a beautiful property in the heart of the Gion district. I couldn't believe how well the kitchen was set up. All the amenities you could ask for. The courtyard and garden so Zen. At night you can turn on the courtyard uplighting and sit in the living room enjoying the view with a drink. The property is in a quiet neighborhood but steps away from restaurants and grocery stores. I can't recommend it enough, especially for a large group
My family of four, including two teens, had a very enjoyable three-night stay at the Hibiki House. We were pleasantly surprised by the walkability to many shrines and other sites of interest around Gion. I was also appreciative of the detailed instructions received in advance. The house was clean, well appointed, and very comfortable for four guests. We would highly recommend this location!
