St Kilda is an inner suburb of the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 6 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District. Its local government area is the City of Port Phillip. At the 2016 Census, St Kilda had a population of 20,230
St Kilda was named by Charles La Trobe, then superintendent of the Port Phillip District, after a schooner, Lady of St Kilda, which moored at the main beach for much of 1841, and the ship's master and early settler Lieutenant James Ross Lawrence.
During the Victorian era, St Kilda became a favoured suburb of Melbourne's elite, and many palatial mansions and grand terraces were constructed along its hills and waterfront. After the turn of the century, the St Kilda foreshore became Melbourne's favoured playground, with electric tram lines linking the suburbs to the seaside amusement rides, ballrooms, cinemas and cafes, and crowds flocked to St Kilda Beach. Many of the mansions and grand terraces became guest houses, and gardens were filled in with apartment buildings, making St Kilda the most densely populated suburb in Melbourne. Postwar St Kilda became Melbourne's red-light district, and the guest houses became low-cost rooming houses. Since the late 1960s, St Kilda become known for its culture of bohemianism, and as home to many prominent artists, musicians and subcultures, including punk and LGBT. While some of these groups still maintain a presence in St Kilda, since the 2000s the district has experienced rapid gentrification pushing many lower socio-economic groups out to other areas, with the suburb again being sought after by the wealthy.
St Kilda is home to many of Melbourne's visitor attractions including Luna Park, St Kilda Pier, the Esplanade Hotel, Acland Street and Fitzroy Street. It is home to St Kilda Beach, several theatres and many of Melbourne's big events and festivals.

Please respect our neighbours at all times
Please be respectful of the property, keep it clean, and return it the same way you received it - i.e. take out the rubbish, wash up any used dishes etc. If there are excessive amounts of rubbish and/or dirty dishes left inside the apartment, extra cleaning fees may apply.
No parties or events at any time. If you're coming to Melbourne to party, you've picked a great city to do so - just not at our place. Though we're sure it won't come to it, complaints of unruly behaviour will unfortunately result in you being asked to leave. Not good for you. Not good for us.
Do not engage in illegal activities anywhere on the property. What you do in your personal time is entirely up to you, but when staying at our place we have a strict no drug use policy. This is just the law, not so much one of our rules.
Do not tamper with any smoke alarms. Tampering with the smoke alarms will result in fines up to $15,000. If you break or damage something, please do the responsible thing and let us know so we can arrange for its replacement/repair.
Do not leave any food out that will attract uninvited pests. Our home is pest-free and we intend to keep it that way with your help.
Remember to return all keys. Charges will apply for any unreturned keys. Upto $500
No noise, loud music, screaming, loud talking outside or inside anytime.
Any breach of these rules may result in the loss of your deposit and the immediate cancellation of your booking.
Please note that we have strict rules as this is a residential building and our personal property. While some of them may seem obvious to you, they are not so obvious to others and we therefore must have a strict policy regarding them. Common decency and respect for others' property is essentially all we're asking.
We reserve the right to request a security deposit and / or a copy of photo ID. Parking on the propertiy is at your own risk
Hosts have the process down to a science. The place is pretty much an average place. Thereâs traffic noise but itâs mid street traffic noise, not a bad intersection or anything, white noise most of the time. Bathroom is a little bit of a squeeze for us larger humans. Temperature control and airflow in the bedroom can be challenging in the summer. None of those are really criticisms, just things other guests might like to know. I had a good stay and didnât really need anything to be different.
A really comfortable stay, with everything you need. Good communication with the host. Place was clean and well equipped and in a great location near the bars and restaurants of Carlisle street, close to to Balaclava Station. Would stay again. Some reviews mention the noise from the road - it is noticeable but it didn't impact our stay overall.
A lovely flat located close to transport, restaurants, and amenities. Had all the comforts of home for us, especially since we like to cook our own meals. This flat was just what we wanted for our five-night stay. A bit of hallway noise at night, but it settled quickly and didn't disturb.
Be advised that the accommodation is in a 3-storey walk-up building in a residential neighbourhood. It's not a problem unless you have lots of luggage.
Clean and neat apartment, good communication with owner and bonus later check out!

Great apartment in a top location
We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment is clean and modern and has everything you need wh a full kitchen and washing machine, etc.
The location is close to Chapel Street and a short tram ride to the city, the MCG and AAMI Park. So much to do and see.
Would definitely stay here again when we come down to Melbourne.
Great spacious flat with all the amenities you could need (washing machine, AC etc.) close to the beach, great cafes and coffee shops, had a great stay & would stay again!
Thanks
