Rooms are very old and dated. Paint peeling and ancient aircons that squeal. Had a very unpleasant experience with the owner. After a sleepless night with a squealing air conditioner I requested a refund or new room via text as there is no one onsite and no one answered the phone. I was notified by text to move to a new room. Upon getting into the new room I discovered the door seemed to be locked from the inside yet could be pushed open without turning the handle from the outside due to the lock not catching the plate properly. After notifying the owner (via text) I was told to âlift the door and pull it towards meâ when I notified the owner this didnât work I was told to âknock on room 14 and ask for his helpâ. When I asked who was in room 14 I was told âthat is not for you to know just do as I say he is an old man who helps me outâ. This all occurred via text. Naturally, as a solo female traveller, I was not going to comply with these instructions that put me in a very risky situation and I therefore left the accommodation and went elsewhere. The owner refused my refund telling me it was âmy faultâ I was anxious and left and if I just âdid what he saidâ it would have been fine. I have since received a refund from hotels.com citing that the situation constituted a breach of Victorian Consumer Law as a Major Failure to provide safe and fit for purpose service. Never ever have I had such an awful accommodation experience in my many years of travel. Avoid at all costs.
