The front veranda welcomes you into the open plan living room with a wood burning fire (and airconditioning).
Push back the Plantation shutters for views to the garden and pony paddock - you'll know you are really on holiday!
The king size bed is adjacent to the living room and can be closed off by sliding plantation doors if you choose - or simply enjoy the space and light and views out the windows.

A beautiful bathroom offers you an indulgent deep slipper bath, a walk in shower and beautiful window - again with Plantation shutters you can open up the windows and your loved one can pass you a glass of bubbly while you loll in the bath! Perfect!

The hallway hides a full laundry ready for you if required and this leads you into the beautifully equipped kitchen with a built in bench seat, lovely dining table, and full cooking facilities, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine too. From here you can also wander onto the back veranda where chairs are placed for you to enjoy your time in the morning sun sipping your coffee.

Total peace and privacy - absolutely. You will love this country cottage - and only 5 minutes from Sassafras village and all the lovely walks of the Dandenongs.

And there's Wifi for you of course if you must! (Do note that internet and phone reception in the Dandenong Ranges can be unstable and please understand we have no control over that. If you rely on wifi please bring a backup modem).

PLEASE NOTE: The lighting of wood burning fires in properties will be prohibited from the beginning of the declared fire danger season (normally mid December) to the end of February. It is also prohibited on all days of Total Fire Ban at any time of the year. We really enjoyed our stay at Franklin cottage. It’s just what you need for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. The cottage is neat and tidy and offers everything you need. It’s well appointed and offers beautiful views of the surrounding trees.

My sister and I had 2xnights at the cottage. It was more than perfect.. warm,cosy and so fresh and clean. With stunning decor.. cosy king bed,beautiful deep bath,bathrobes were a nice surprise.. highly recommend a stay here . We be back for sure..

Gorgeous cottage in magnificent garden, complete with pony !!

We have been in Australia for 2 months, and this is far and away our favorite stay. It was SO comfortable, so well equipped (even luxurious), and smack in the middle of the other-worldly Dandenong forest. Would come back every time - and Manager was totally responsive and always helpful and kind. I would give it 12 gold stars !!

Beautiful cottage getaway!

I surprised my partner with a getaway to Olinda, and we both absolutely loved our stay! The cottage we stayed in had everything — wifi, fully-equipped kitchen, fireplace, heating. It was so beautifully decorated as well, and very comfortable to snuggle up in during the rainy hours. The town was also a short drive away, and we managed to see a lot of the area during our stay. The host was very hospitable, left a lovely gift basket for us. We hope to be back in the future!

Perfect Quiet Getaway for Couples

If you’re looking for a quiet retreat, this is the perfect place to be. Beautiful property and located in between everything. The ponies add to the charm of the location. Absolutely magical with the autumn leaves falling. Would definitely come back and recommend to everyone we know!!

Fantastic Getaway

Was wonderfully property, and would recommend highly, the host ( property Manager Theo ) was most helpfull during a storm we experienced whilst there, he got the power and hot water up and running very quickly. Overall a great place to stay.
