Cleanliness and comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast. Only negative was that we were on first floor by the road which was very, very noisy all night. Another family member was by the entrance to the hallway. They kept hearing the banging of the door opening and closing.

If you’re interested in staying at a hotel with hospitality, timely customer service, doors that reach the floor, windows that block out sound, amenities beyond basics, and a comfortable bed, look elsewhere. The hotel was busy, showing they do a good job advertising, but the long lines and lack of customer service left us wishing we stayed somewhere else.

Inflexible and unhelpful

Not responsive to emergencies; inflexible and greedy: I booked Hotel Riu Plaza on the day of my flight to SanFrancisco, but the flight was canceled at the airport. I called to cancel my reservation within 3 hours of making the booking (non refundable). This would have allowed them to rebook the hotel to another guest and refund me, which I have had many other hotels do as a courtesy and with empathy for the situation. Expecially in this case as I literally called within 3 hours of booking and they could have released the room and rebooked. HOTELS.COM was symathetic and said that they would take this up with the hotel. However, the RIU PLAZA HOTEL was inflexible. I got an email asking how my check in was (so clearly, they must have rented the room to someone else). Yes, I booked a non refundable rate on the day of, but called to cancel within 2 hours and early in the day. Other hotels in similar cases have been flexible if they are able to find another guest. Riu Plaza front desk were not only were vague and later inflexible, they provided no customer service. DO NOT GO TO SUCH A HOTEL that does not treat its customers with humanity.

They charged me an additional $40 facility or something fee for a single night.!. I really did not appreciate that. I'm OK with a higher price as long as I know up front! This is deceptive.
