This was in the basement of the house so it was very dark, and the lighting was absolutely terrible. The bed was comfortable. The coffee maker didn't work. The neighborhood is a bit questionable, however, just minutes from downtown so that was nice. We stayed only one night and it was just okay.
Overall, it was a nice place with a good location and price. However, a few things were broken that was a slight annoyance. Also, there were no curtains on the windows which made the room super bright and difficult to sleep.
The positives: wonderfully renovated large classic old home. We stayed in the large downstairs adjoining rooms (units C&D). My sister-in-law was joining my wife and I to see their family in Sandusky. Room(s) were beautiful. Beds were comfortable. Nice little kitchen; had a washer/dryer. Price was good.
The negatives (quirks): There's no staff; it's all automated. We stayed there in January 2025 and there was snow and ice, and no one to shovel the snow or sweep off the stairs or walkways - a bit dangerous. Inside our rooms there was nowhere to put clothes (no closets or armoires, no shelves or drawers). Our bathroom was huge, but nowhere to put toiletries (we had to put them on the floor).
Overall a very good stay. Just a few things needed (that you would've thought they would've thought of!)...
I booked this through a third party and didnât receive my code for the door, but I called the number listed and talked with a person immediately and received my code right away! Very friendly, great place to stay. I would highly recommend
The unit that we stayed in was comfortable and cute. The only complaint we had was staying in the lower level. The people who stayed above us were up late and were very loud. We could hear everything from them walking across the floor to hearing them talking, until 3:00 AM. The room was not very sound proof. We would request a top floor unit next visit.
This place is absolutely beautiful! Instead of renting a hotel room, I wanted to stay somewhere with a more homey feeling that was quiet enough for me to relax after doing my homework. So glad I decided to choose The Washington because it was exactly what I needed and was looking for! I will definitely stay here anytime Iâm in Sandusky and have already highly recommended it to my family and friends.
It was more beautiful thank the pictures and more spacious. We had problems with the code on the door and the staff was great walking us through the process the first time. It was great experience.
Very cute and comfortable unit. Very clean and nicely decorated. Comfortable mattress. Unit has refrigerator dishwasher and microwave. There is also a coffee maker and dishes. The location is right downtown and walkable to restaurants. You can hear the sounds of the other units but other customers were pretty respectful. I highly recommend staying here if you like to be away from more busy locations, there is traffic and some foot traffic but very peaceful. This place did not disappoint and I will stay here again!
This was such a cute and unique stay. Very thoughtfully designed with old elements from the building and modern upgrades. Short walk to downtown restaurants. Several off street parking spaces. Way more space than a regular hotel room.
We had a problem checking in since we booked on Expedia, we didn't get the door access code emailed to us, it went to an Expedia email address by mistake. It took a few minutes to get through to someone and work through the problem, but whoever we spoke to was incredibly nice and patient, so props to them.
