Historic 1807 Williams Home... A Nautical New England Inspiration!
Immerse yourselves in bygone days when at the 1807 Williams Home!
Filled with nautical New England inspiration and oozing with history and character throughout, our 4-bed/3.5-bath, pet-friendly vacation home was built by the relatives of one of the original families who settled on the east side of the Mystic River. Located in the quaint seafaring hamlet of Old Mystic at the Head O' the River, you will be central to all area attractions. Walk or bike the scenic River Road, and only a 5-minute drive to Mystic Seaport Museum and outstanding restaurants.
Experience colonial patriotic charm with 21st-century comfort and a splash of pure, homegrown hospitality to make your Mystic stay most relaxing.
A historical retreatâŠ
The history buff in you will love the story behind the 1807 Williams Home. The building started as the Wayside Inn, a regular stopping point for stagecoaches on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, Secretary of State Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! If only walls had ears, imagine the stories they could recount. Perhaps you could listen and hear the walls whisper words of the past!

PROPERTY TRUTHS
The Williams Home & Smith Cottage property is on Main Street on a bustling corner at a 3-way stop sign across Holly Hock Antiques and the Old Mystic Post Office. It's busy with road noise during the day but a quiet and peaceful hamlet in the evenings.
Outdoor spaces and parking are shared with guests staying in the Williams Home main house and the Smith Cottage.
As the Williams Home is circa 1807, the floorboards are wide and move and creak a bit, but I think you'll appreciate how it adds to the charm and character of an antique home.
Sometimes, wooden homes' doors stick and need a push or a pull, as wood naturally expands and contracts with the New England weather.
Original glass windows can be drafty. While we treat for insects, occasionally, they find their way inside.
LARGER GROUPS
In addition to the Williams Home and Smith Cottage (which can accommodate up to 14 guests if reserved together), we have 2 more adjacent properties: the Denison Home (which can accommodate 10 guests) and the Carriage House (which can accommodate 14 guests), so we can accommodate 36-38 guests for larger gatherings.
We are sure you would love to stay at the 1807 Williams Home, and we'd love to host you!

We had a great time at the house. We loved looking at all the great treasures and were impressed with how clean and well appointed the home is. Everyone loved our stay and Debbe was very responsive and helpful.
Everything was wonderful! Host was so kind and helpful! Great house and the location was close to everything! Couldn't have been better! Hope to visit again!
We usually stay closer to Charlestown RI but booked too late & thankfully found this gem only miles away. The home is immaculate, appointed with the most comfortable beds & generous towels, beach gear (including towels & picnic baskets) & many helpful âin case you forgotâ items. Wow - 3.5 baths in a 1800âs home?! We enjoyed the fire pit & outdoor space too! Yes, thereâs lots of âstuffâ but itâs a neat collection of period appropriate items that - after Day 1 - just made sense. Would definitely recommend & stay again. Thank you!
Debbie was a fantastic host and has a special property. Our family and friends loved the home and we only wish we could have stayed longer and relaxed in a place that transported us to a time gone by. Debbie has thought of every little detail!
What an absolute jewel! We have stayed at many guest homes across the US, but all agree that this was the best. Our host, Debbie Bied ( and Paul, too!) made us feel welcome with so many inviting touches, including homemade apple pie. The propertyâs nautical theme included many special touches. We spent hours marveling at the inspiration and care that went into the planning at this property. Everything at the Williamâs Home was clean, comfortable, and well tended. What a treasure!
The property was amazing. The host went out of her way to make sure the house was fully stocked with bathroom necessities and left water in every bedroom for us. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn'tâ available. The house itself is so charming and decorated to really celebrate the time period of the house. Our host communicated with us before and during our stay to make sure we were happy and didn't need anything. We loved the property and look forward to coming back.
