Staff was cordial. Hotel is next to a main drag and is noisy. Questionable characters in and out of lobby. Had a couple that sounded drunk and were having marital arguements next room, using profanity and shouting. The staff did respond twice in response to two calls I made to the front desk about the issue. Housekeeping kept the room clean, although rooms are somewhat antiquated. Queen matress was new and linens were clean.

not a good stay

This place was the choice of vagrants, drug addicts and the homeless. Every time I walked outside, someone was asking me for money. The sheets and pillow cases had blood stains on them. The carpet in the room was stained. The sheets were terribly scratchy and the A/C unit controls didn't work. I'm bleaching all my whites (I threw way all my dark clothes) because I think my bed had bad bugs. Not a great experience. Will never stay at a Guest House Inn again!

I was shocked to read your recent review. This kind of information is taken very seriously. It would be appreciated if you could please provide your reservation details to order that we may investigate your claims as our monthly inspection found no bed bugs. I personally am a part of the Management team that oversees the rooms department and have heard nothing including the entire Management staff, in regards to the above claim. As I am sure you are aware, bed bugs are an unfortunate concern for any business that deals with traveling guests. That can include airplanes, trains, hotel rooms and even movie theaters and taxi cabs. I am very sorry for what your family is experiencing. Again, this kind of information is taken very seriously and our Hotel takes great pride in the cleanliness and care we provided to our guests. Thank you for your time again on providing your feedback.

Great place to stay in Anchorage!

The Anchorage Guesthouse met our needs. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, convenient shuttle to/from airport, reasonable rates.

Quick over night stay

Cons: Alternative beverages for young guests (hot chocolate). More shuttles for busier times.
Our flight arrived around midnight, we called the hotel to schedule our shuttle after we retrieved our bags. I was told that a shuttle was headed our way. It arrived approximately 15 minutes later, only for us to have to wait for him to return to the hotel and come back because there was not enough room for everyone in our group. The driver was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience. Checking into the hotel was slow, although the gentleman checking us in was very pleasant and helpful. The process or steps he had to do seemed out of date resulting in increased waiting times at the front desk. Our rooms were average, met our needs. The staff the next day was fantastic. They were able to give us a very reasonable late check out, which was awesome. One recommendation would be to have hot chocolate or something besides tea and coffee for the young guests.

Zero sleep

Pros: Location. Pick up from airport and drop off at the train station was very helpful.
Cons: Everything, specifically front desk clerks taking care of the noise and other patrons. People were partying right outside the lobby.
Location: Near the train station
There must have been a party going on! People running up and down the stairs all night, clomping overhead, vomiting at 5:00AM. When we complained, staff said "sorry about that. Friday night in Anchorage". Worst stay in a hotel ever!

Pros: the staff was very friendly and helpful all except 1
Cons: They can do better with the breakfast
Location: location was great

Downtown location but not bad.

Pros: The rooms were very comfortable and well arranged. I liked the Travelocity price. Lodging in Anchorage in the tourist season is very expensive, so we
Cons: At first it appeared to be a very poor neighborhood, but in looking back I think it was just a typical downtown, not-brand-new hotel.
Location: It was on one of the two main streets of downtown Anchorage so walking to many activities was very easy. I am unable to walk that much, but the rest
We arrived in Anchorage on the bus at 8:30 p.m. and called for the hotel shuttle. They let us know that their shuttle only runs from the airport and the train station, so we had to take a cab--two cabs as there were 8 of us. I asked for the cab number which she cheerfully provided. Fortunately the distance was quite short, so it wasn't expensive. The rooms were nice size and very clean, and we were located close together. Each room had a refrigerator, microwave, and television. Everything was in good working order. It is an older downtown hotel, but there were several restaurants within walking distance. The a.m. shuttle to the airport was fast, efficient, and free.
