Was not allowed to check in due to no physical photo ID (stolen wallet), had photo of ID on phone which was accepted at other hotels. No leniency showed by reception, had to find alternative accommodation at 9pm after long day of travel. Attempted to contact manager for refund without success.

This should be considered a 2 star motel or less. The staff at the front are not helpful. If you need reliable WiFi this is NOT the place to stay. The shower and shower curtain had mildew/mold. I saw a roach in my room and you can hear everyone out in the hallway. The hotel owners have done a poor job on renovating this motel. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. I couldn’t wait for my time to end at this hotel.

After checking-in we went to our room and when we opened the door, it was already occupied and full of rubbish. We informed the reception and they changed our room to one that was clean and empty. The room was okay but there were some issues. The shower head wasn’t screwed in properly so you had to hold the shower head to shower. The wall above the bed was covered in handprints. The aircon had an issue and was incredibly loud so we had to use the fan which was hanging from exposed wires. A very disappointing stay.

This is my second stay at hides and the second time I haven’t received my $100 bond back very disappointed have rang several times and it’s been 10 days since checking out and they continue to say it takes a few business days not happy

Location was great. Walking distance to the Esplanade only 10 minutes. Lots of cafes and restaurants around the area. Room is looking a bit tired. Sheets looked old and WIFI was bad as was television. One staff member was not pleasant to deal with but otherwise a good stay.

Basic

just painting the hotel and keep all old run down appliances does not cut it. Aircon was loud (defect) that you can’t run it at night. Door between 2 rooms paper thin. Reception not welcoming. Arrive before 2am and ask if by chance the room is ready, answer “check in at 2” lockers around the corner 6$. Even in the evening looking at you 5m from the glass entry door waiting that you type the door code in instead open the door remotely. No hello or anything. There motto “no fluff” hits it on the head Not to mention no room service within a 3 night stay.

Didn’t like that we put the do not disturb sign up and when we came back in the room there was evidence that people had been in there (extra clean towns in the bathroom) when the dirty ones were not removed and husbands fault for leaving his packets of smokes on the table so two packets went missing. But other than that the place is fantastic and in a great location

The hotel is well located in the city center, but our experience was quite disappointing. During our 6-night stay, the room was never cleaned despite requesting it. The Wi-Fi advertised does not actually work, which also makes the smart TV useless. The bathroom, especially the shower, is in poor condition and needs serious improvement.

Great central location. The room price reflected the condition. Fan was hanging off the ceiling the aircon was hardly working and super noisy so didnt get much sleep. The place is very tired could do with renovations being done but its in a fantastic central location and cheap compared to other hotels so just depends on what you want for your stay. We were happy to be able to walk to everything.
