Modern Beach Condo - Luxury Coastal Retreat

For 2025, we re-imagined The Sand Dollar to provide our guests with a more modern, comfortable and enjoyable luxury retreat. Our complete renovation starts as you enter through the welcoming Dutch door, a new dining island, coffee bar, and open space for gathering around a meal. The new kitchen is complete with new cabinets with under-counter lighting, appliances, utensils, cookware and dinnerware ready for your favorite family recipes. The living room includes custom furniture, comfortable swivel chairs, large screen QLED television. All rooms have dimmable overhead lighting that can be adjusted to fit the mood of the day or night.

The entirely new baths include vanities and showers encased in glass. Large electronic mirrors can be adjusted for brightness and color temperature as well as anti-fog. The full-size front-loading washer/dryer tower will make laundry a breeze and luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the entire space is pleasant for bare feet and easy to keep clean.

The main patio has been transformed as a casual gathering area for enjoying alfresco drinks and dining. The smaller patio is a quiet retreat for a coffee at sunrise or book in the late afternoon. Both bedrooms have new beds and ample storage in the built-in closets. The master bedroom includes a new king bed with Nectar mattress, wall-mounted TV to stream movies and favorite shows or catch up on news or sports. Each nightstand includes multiple charging ports to refresh all your vital electronics. Ceiling fans will help keep everyone comfortable with remotes to customize circulation for each room.

High speed secure internet Wi-Fi is provided throughout. YouTubeTV is provided with over 100 national and local channels as well us unlimited recording of your favorite series or sporting event. Both TVs are ready to login into any streaming service that you frequently use.

The Sand Dollar is a perfect beach getaway in the best location in California. Stroll out the door and you are a short 8 minute walk from beautiful Strands Beach. You will find chairs, umbrella, drink cooler, boogie boards and sand toys you can take with you to the beach. In addition to our updates, Strands Vista Park also continues to evolve. Walk over and enjoy the new paths, updated Veterans Memorial and picnic tables. (Sadly, the funicular elevator is out of service indefinitely.) Make sure you schedule a few evenings to enjoy the great Pacific Ocean sunsets.

The complex also has a large family pool heated year-around as well as large hot-tub. The nearby shower makes it a great place to rinse off and cool down after a day at the beach. An alternative adult-only hot tub is also available in the complex. We also provide a covered parking space and many guest spaces are also available. Our place is a lower unit located on the ground floor.

You are in the perfect location in Southern California with fabulous dining, artist galleries, shopping, golf and sport activities awaiting you in Dana Point and nearby Laguna Beach. A few options include a visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, Legoland, San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills, The Getty Museum, San Clemente Pier, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Queen Mary at Long Beach, Catalina Island, Birch Aquarium, San Juan Capistrano Mission, and Laguna Beach with numerous art festivals and shops. Locally in Dana Point you can enjoy many new restaurants, outdoor summer concerts and movies, golf, whale watching, water activities and shopping at the harbor, the Ocean Institute, Bluff Top Trail, Marine Life Refuge, and many parks
Creekside Park and Heritage Park are two of our favorites.

Too bad it had no A/C, for it was really damp at night, and not much breeze, being on the first floor. Nice hiking trails all around the property, some towards the beach, others with spectacular view for many miles. Functional Kitchen. Need to get your own TP and paper towels.

Beach Paradise

We stayed at the Sand Dollar condo for a month. It was truly a wonderful experience and we will definitely return. From the beginning, Todd was a great communicator and responded quickly to inquiries. When had an issue with the door lock, he immediately contacted the handy man, who was there to fix it very soon. The property itself was perfect! The condo unit was clean, tastefully furnished, with a well equipped kitchen with some spices, and beach chairs and toys. The grounds are also beautiful and the swimming pool offers a nice area to soak up some sun and read a book. The condo is right across the street from the beach (we walked there almost everyday and enjoyed many a sunset), within walking distance to the Lantern District and a short drive to Dana Point Harbor. The area offers so many things to do--Catalina Island, shopping and eating at the harbor, hikes at Crystal Cove state park north of Laguna Beach, and trips to historic towns of San Juan Capistrano (don't miss touring the old mission) and Old Town in San Diego. We also took day trips to the beautiful Channel Islands National Park and Joshua Tree National Park. We didn't want to leave Dana Point and our condo--it was so lovely and relaxing. Everyone was very nice, friendly, and helpful. A great spring get-away for us.

A Wonderful Vacation

My husband and I had the best time at the Sand Dollar. The condo was clean and very well equipped. The location, so close to The Strands Beach, was ideal. The owner, Todd, was available if we needed him, but all went well. I would definitely recommend this property. We hope to return next year.

Cozy and nicely furnished condo

This condo is tucked away in the interior of the complex and is quiet and cozy. It is just a few minutes walk away from the scenic overlook of the ocean and 10 minute walk down to the beach. The condo is very nicely updated and is furnished with quality cookware and plenty of eating and cooking utensils. There was one repair that needed to be addressed when we checked in and Todd promptly responded. He was very easy to work with. What a peaceful and relaxing month we enjoyed at the Sand Dollar!

Great place for a Winter Getaway!

We’ve stayed in VRBO properties in OR and S CA. Todd’s condo had a very well equipped kitchen, nice bathrooms, a convenient laundry area, a comfy blue sofa and lovely beach decor. It’s also close to restaurants, Ralphs Market, Trader Joe’s and Costco. 3 coastal access areas are located across Selva Rd. One of them is up the hill with a path and stairs, the others have a combination of stairs and sidewalks. You can walk from the point to the end of Monarch Beach at low tide. At the end of Selva Road you may see whales spouting, breaching and fluking from the trail through the Nature Conservanay area on the way to the Visitor Center. Another coastal access paved path will take you back to the condos from Blue Lantern and PCH. Two restaurants on Blue Lantern overlook the harbor. You can walk to Lantern District restaurants from the condo or down the hill to the harbor. A few blocks from Blue Lantern through a lovely neighborhood there is access to another walk overlooking the harbor and a small park. We took the ferry to Catalina from Dana Point one weekend, toured the mission at Capistrano, went to Borrego Springs for the Super Bloom and drove to San Clemente to walk along the beach and out to the end of the pier. Laguna Beach is also nearby. You can find plenty to do in the area if it’s not a perfect beach day! Enjoy😎

Can’t beat it!

Stayed for nearly 6 months, booked again for next year. Short walk to the beach. Neighbors were quiet and friendly. Property was clean and recently renovated. Owner is easily accessible and prompt to address any concerns. The washing machine broke down during our stay and was replaced within a few days with a brand new unit. The owner went as far as to set us up with a paid account at a nearby laundromat, and provided us with a discount on our stay for the inconvenience. Conveniently located between Los Angeles and San Diego, making both locations drivable for a day trip. Absolutely would recommend it.

Great 2 Bedroom 2 bath condo, fully equipped, nice pool & hot tub.

Newly renovated spacious 2bed 2bath condo with 2 small patios, one with table & chairs. Can sleep up to 8. Kitchen fully equipped with ample dishes, pots & pans. Lots of towels & beach equipment on hand. Beach short walk away, but would need to be able to walk down multiple stairs to access, we drove to more accessible beach nearby. We recommend this condo.
