Nice property needs updating and heard they are this summer their sister hotel was updated last year so stay there until this one is updated it’s cheaper to stay at their sister hotel

Pool was ok. Room was falling apart- Celing fan made horrible noise. Asked to fix it or move us and they turned to low and said that’s good. Only 2 working elevators in whole property and used by staff as well as guests. Staff was mostly nice. We were put in a room above the kitchen near the stage and it was always loud. TVs didn’t work properly as if connected to antenna but showed frozen screens for many channels. Only BBC channel in English. We were told they are refurbishing soon. I hope it gets better for the next people. Restaurants not amazing buffet not kept at safe temperatures. We Love bees but they were overwhelming at the pool bar.

Pool was great, strange that we have to have cards to get towels and make sure we don't misplace them. Breakfast buffet was AMAZING. Fresh fruits, local foods, typical foods, I had never seen such a large buffet, it was amazing! Food in all restaurants was wonderful, the coffee bar was amazing, plenty of chairs around the pool. Beach was kind of far away and never really came in to play for us

My only complaint is Specialized were nearly impossible to a get in. Unless you are willing to stand online for an hour. I might as well to mc Donald's if I have to stand online and tub the middle of the room was strange.

If you're a booze hound who doesn't like wine and you're not a foodie, and you like to hang out in the pool all day and make lots of noise, this is the place for you. If you love nice wine (never mind great wine, just half-decent wine) and good food (never mind excellent food), this ain't it. The white wine was absolutely terrible in all the bars and most of the restaurants. There was a passable Frontera sauvignon blanc in two restaurants (Tokio and Krystal). The only good food was at Tokio, where the tempura, salmon and gyoza were pretty good. The rest of the food verged on godawful. The air conditioning struggled along in our room - couldn't cool it lower than 23 degrees. Most of the entertainment was embarrassingly bad, except for the odd band that played before supper. On the plus side, the pools are lovely, the facility is spotless, the staff are mostly very nice. The coffee shop Cappuccino was awesome: great coffee and cinnamon buns. The spa is decent. All that being said, we won't be back.

The room definitely needs to be updated, 2 out of 4 outlets didn’t work. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly. Food was delicious. Many options to choose from.

Overall would recommend we enjoyed our stay! Room was a bit old but was spacious and clean. Pools were beautiful, service out there was excellent, Particularly Christopher! However not sure why it cost more to stay at palace vs riu. Very disappointed with the beach setup at riu palace. They kept stacks of old falling part lounge chairs under a bunch of trees. Id have to drag one out myself. Narrow beach area. On last day i walked down beach to see riu & was shocked to discover rows of new beach chairs. The pool design also didn't make sense. The only adults only swim up pool was the tiniest one! So everyone is crammed in there occupying same tables and seats all day long while the little kids had these big enormous pools to throw balls around and scream. I was disappointed this hotel is not adults only like the palace in punta cana. Another frustrating issue we ran into is they said no reservations at restaurants , 1st come 1st serve, HOWEVER that was a lie at the steak house. They pick and choose who they wanted to give a paper slip to to reserve a table. It took us 2 nights of trying to eat there and after talking to a few other people learned about these paper reservations that no one offered us. I would say the extra money to stay at palace is not worth it.

Yes cleaning evey day even if not dirty. Employees were busy every time trying to make our stay perfect

Hotel is old.! Charged a fortune but is in dire need of repair. Walls were dirty, decor outdated. Furniture in need of repair. Poor service. Most staff had chip on their shoulder and could care less if they served you. Room service options very poor. Worst Riu ever!!!
