Our stay at Hotel Bosque del Mar was pure relaxation from start to finish. The grounds and facilities are spotless, surrounded by lush tropical greenery that makes you feel completely immersed in nature. Everything — from the rooms to the pool area — was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were incredible: friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They made us feel welcome the moment we arrived and added such a personal touch to our stay. We especially loved spending time in the pool and hot tub, which were both pristine and perfectly placed for soaking up the peaceful surroundings. Each morning, we woke to the sounds of howler monkeys echoing through the trees — an unforgettable reminder that we were in the heart of Costa Rica. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic escape with wonderful service and a touch of adventure, Hotel Bosque del Mar is the perfect choice. We can’t wait to come back!

Crabs on the floor tainted our stay

We greatly appreciate the staff allowing us to check in early and getting us our room early. This was a big highlight of our stay and we are grateful. We were able to enjoy the beach and pool while waiting for our room! We unfortunately had 4 crabs in our room. We made sure doors were sealed, curtains etc were sealed off so I’m not sure how they got into the room or where they were coming from. It was hard to fall back asleep after encountering two of them in the middle of the night in the living/bathroom area after we checked for certain at bedtime that there were no more in the room. It also made us uncomfortable having our little one in the baby crib so close to the floor, and I didn’t sleep well as I kept checking for them (and kept finding more). Keep your luggage and items off the floor. The hotel is steps to the beach and the beach has very small waves and is good for little ones. Also has amazing sunsets. Many locals came here (their entrance is about 20m south), so you can visit with locals who come to this beach to relax and play their music. There were many vendors walking by trying to sell stuff which was a nuisance after a while. Noise: we were a lower room and the sound from above us was noticed, and specifically when people were walking up the stairs it sounded like very loud thunder so wanted to mention that if anybody is sensitive to noise. Also the floor to ceiling windows offered little privacy, so we had to keep our curtains closed the whole time.

Great end to a wonderful vacation

We stayed for the last two nights of our 10 day vacation and had a wonderful time, the service and staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was fantastic with a great ocean view.the grounds were well maintained and easily circumvented.

This was a magical property that was Steps from the beach, and had every amenity imaginable. Friendly excellent staff who catered to any need. Excellent food in the restaurant. Incredible beach access and amenities. Can’t wait to come back next year.

The whole vacation experience was top notch from start to finish. Incredible attention and compassion destroyed by all staff. I would absolutely return to stay again. So Accommodating and friendly. Food was delicious. Happy hour was convenient. Not too many vendors on the public beach (no private beaches in Costa Rica). Could not have asked for a better experience!

Nature was all around us. We saw and heard multiple species of animals. Monkeys, birds, squirrels and raccoons to name a few. Really cool hotel!

We had the oceanfront room and it was great. Very spacious with a separate room with sofa bed. The room was large with a huge balcony. There was a very comfortable double lounger on the balcony which was great for lounging and enjoying the view through the trees and listening to the surf. The balcony could have used an additional sitting area with small table. The bathroom can be fully opened with a curtain on the outside and bathtub essentially outside on the deck. Kind of cool but also a bit inconvenient to have to close the curtain on the outside for bathroom privacy. We did try the tub open to the outside which was nice but not really private. The hotel grounds are small so no opportunity to enjoy resort type grounds. The beach was nice. It’s a mile long so you can walk for quite a while. There were loungers always available and plenty of trees to provide shade. There are a few beach vendors who will approach you but most are polite and accept a no gracias and move on. There are also people selling tours but we didn’t partake in any. The restaurant was good but a bit expensive. It’s open air so flys were a nuisance at times. We saw monkeys on 4 occasions over 4 days which was a treat. There were also some iguanas and a nice bird that visits the restaurant. We only visited the bar once on happy hour and had a good piña colada. Overall a good stay but a little on the expensive side. We stayed in a regular room the last night which was just average, recommend the oceanfront.

This boutique hotel is so nice. Our Opium room was so beautiful and spacious. Just steps away from the beach. The staff is incredibly friendly. Highly recommand this hotel.
