Tropical breezes, ocean view and sunny white sand beaches make this an ideal vacation rental house. It is furnished in a traditional island style with a fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs is a large ocean-facing master suite with a California King, an adjoining sun-room with two twin beds and a deck with a 180-degree view towards the ocean. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms each with a queen bed and its own bathroom. The kitchen, dining room and central family room offer plenty of space, sunlight and comfort for all.

Centrally located in the quaint 19th century plantation town of Kapaa on the east shore of Kauai, you will find a variety of activities. A beach protected by a barrier reef is within walking distance. This uncrowded beach is called Baby Beach by the locals because of the gentle surf and safety afforded to smaller children. Other beaches of Kapaa offer windsurfing and kite surfing or enjoy the many surfing spots on the east shore of Kauai.

Also, explore Hawaii's amazing sea life by snorkeling and scuba diving or enjoy fishing. Hike the trails of Nounou (the Sleeping Giant), a Forest Reserve that rewards your effort with views of the entire island. Paddle a kayak up Kauai's Wailua River, one of Hawaii's few navigable rivers and explore the famous Fern Grotto, Secret Falls and the canyons of the Wailua River interior. Golfers appreciate being so close to top-ranked Wailua Golf Course. In the evenings, walk to historic Kapaa Town and enjoy local Hawaiian food and a variety of fine restaurants.

2 families in Kauai

This house was perfect for exploring Kauai. Easy walk to the ocean. Fast drive to either side of the island. Plenty of hikes close by. Bike path is right there for biking, running or strolling. Down town Kapa'a is a close walk. Kitchen was very well stocked. Safeway is a close walk. There was plenty of room for all of use. 4 kids shared the upstairs room and the adults each had a room and bathroom. The ocean breeze keeps the house cool. The only thing I would change is a keyless entry so we wouldn't have had to pick up/drop off keys. But that is a very minor improvement. We had a magical week and I would go back and stay in the same spot over and over. Loved Kauai.

Needs Attention, But Still A Piece of Paradise

The property is a decent size, but looks larger in the photos. The kitchen has everything you need to make full meals. The foldout sofa downstairs has a note that due to rust it cannot be used, but there are still three bedrooms and a total of one king, two queens and two twin beds throughout the house. The pillows and mattresses are VERY firm. The shower in the master is smaller than I expected. The carpet needs to be replaced. There was food trash under the bed in the master. The sliding door in the kitchen does not open fully. That said, the place is spacious and beautiful and it is very close to the beach. You can see the ocean behind the house across the street, and right around the corner is the beach. However, the actual beach access point is at least a five minute walk down the street. There is a cement wall and rock barrier that restricts you from walking on the sand for at least a block. You may have to sleep with the windows open if you are used to central air, and you may need to pack ear plugs because Kauai is full of roosters that crow all day and night. The house is for sale, so I understand why not much is being spent on it, though. It's still on paradise and centrally located to a lot that Kauai has to offer. I'd stay there again.

Perfect beach house for family

We spent Thanksgiving at Hale Niu with our children and their spouses. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and could use a few courtesy items like coffee filters, foil or spices. We played croquet on the front yard and did yoga. Danced under the moon and stars. Thanks for sharing this little Kapa’a gem!

Best location

Staying at Hale Niu was a great choice for its central location. The 3+ bedroom with 3 baths home was spotless and its size allowed all 5 of us adults to relax and stretch both in and outdoors. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with dishes, pots and pans and dishwasher and the dining area was delightful. The huge lanai with table and reclining lounges was a favorite! We had a small view of the ocean but ocean access right across the street and beautiful sun rises. Even had a washer and dryer which was very helpful! We loved this home!

Excellent location and house

All positives to our vacation rental, no negatives!!! We would easily choose this house again! Beds were great, we were able to keep upstairs bedroom sliding door open so we could listen to the waves at night.

I felt the pictures made it look small, but to my surprise it was really big!!! The beds were the worse!!! Spend some money on new mattresses. The neighbors to the back were loud and cursing a lot and my grand babies were with us. Dislike that very much . Also ,didn’t feel comfortable in the area after reading the warning about burglaries in our area.

Pros Good location, large outdoor grassy area, well stocked kitchen, quick responses from management Cons Dated property (rust in some areas, stains on floor and carpets), ants on countertops (we kept everything very clean but there were many small ants) and in bathroom, termite droppings near the bathroom by the floorboards, noise from the street/cars at night, noise from construction on house next door (building noise and loud cursing), dead bugs on the bathroom ceiling that had not been cleaned, lots of wear and tear

Great location with room to spread out!

Very comfortable house! Has one of the best equipped kitchens we've found in a vacation rental. Our group of 4 (my husband and I + our 2 twenty-something kids) found the location very convenient to explore the island or walk to town along the coast. Fabulous porch and spacious front yard provided lots of room for relaxing.

The perfect family spot

Hale Nui was everything we were hoping it would be. Amazing location, great lanai, beautiful large lawn for the kids to run around under the palm trees, short walk to the beach, the perfect base from which to explore the north and south/west of the island. Photos are a little older and don’t reflect some newer amenities, so in some ways it’s even better than advertised. Hope to bring the gang back here soon!

Good family rental

This is a well used rental so don't expect resort perfection but it was clean and well stocked and we had everything we needed for a fabulous holiday. We were 5 adults and 2 children and the layout of the house was perfect for us. As the children are young, being within walking distance of a reef sheltered beach was ideal. We loved the town of Kapa'a and had a lot of fun renting bikes, shopping and exploring. We had a great time and have no regrets.

Gem of a spot

The location is fantastic - 20 minutes from the airport, a short stroll to restaurants or grocery stores, easy walk to a little kid-friendly beach (rocks break the waves and create a nice pool for little ones), a short drive to a life-guard beach for bigger kids and better swimmers, and about 30-45 min drive to boatings/SCUBA activities and 30 min drive to Princeville for shopping. Cute home. Well stocked kitchen - like it actually had tools for us to cook meals at home with! I would come back with the family again in a heart-beat. Great home!

we had a great stay at the house large family style house on large open lot 490' walk to the ocean we have booked next year! the house is not high tech or refined but has good wifi to conduct business and has beach equipment and boogie boards good central Kauai location to go north or south which we did most days good bbq and larger veranda for family dinning

It was raining (normal weather and the house was so humid. We woke up 2 mornings to dew on the floors and frig. I had to wipe down the floors to get rid of moisture. Issue was never addressed It took three days and three calls to get cable fixed in one room

Old Hawaii. Great value. Good location

8 of us rented this charming home for ten days. It fit our family with 3 younger kids well. As the photos show it has a tropical feel, comfortable, clean. It is a little dated but we were not paying for glitz. The front yard is huge and great for playing ball. At first we were concerned about no AC but it was fine. There are lots of fans and the breeze is wonderful. The laundry is great. That room has lots of sand toys, boogie boards, beach chairs etc. The kitchen is well equipped. It is just across from the ocean. The beach is not for little kids. You are half way between Poipu in the South and Princeville in the north. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. We all loved it and would go back. Great value.
