Come & stay with us at the beautiful & peaceful Bird's Nest

The Bird's Nest is located in a peaceful neighborhood that is surrounded by lush greenery and bird songs can be heard throughout the day & tree frogs at night. The house sits high above the ground which makes it feel as if you are staying in a tree house. The road in front of the home is paved and available for walks or runs. We are located about 4 miles from a couple of beautiful hikes to either a black and white sandy beach or tide pools.

We are located about 15 minutes from Hilo, 5 miles from Pahoa and 4 miles from the ocean and sea cliffs to walk along. Volcano National Park is about a 30 minute drive and we are about a 1 1/2 hour drive over Saddle Road to white sandy beaches.

Highly recommend the Bird's Nest as accommodations for exploring both Volcanoes National Park and the Hilo area. The property interior is beautifully updated, spacious and very clean, with all the equipment needed to cook all your meals. Location is quiet, peaceful and safe. The host is very responsive and has her own micro-bakery - providing guests with a yummy sampling and seasonally available fruits grown on the property.

Khymberly was very accommodating to our large family size. Everything was neat and clean upon our arrival. Beach chairs and accessories were provided for use, which we found very helpful. Check-in and check-out were seamless. Khym also bakes sourdough bread and other delicious goods for sale, fresh and convenient!

We had a wonderful stay at the Bird's Nest! It is a clean, comfortable, welcoming home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed making meals in the kitchen, playing board games in the evening and falling asleep to the sounds of nature Khym is an amazing host! We would definitely stay again.

Relaxing stay in Keaau

The home is clean, nicely decorated, with lots of windows for ventilation. It is quiet with the sound of the coqui frogs at night (this did not keep us up at night) and birds in the morning. We did not hear roosters while here. You really are away from the city life here. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Bedding, towels were clean and adequate. The kitchen was well supplied but we did not cook while there. We chose to eat out for our meals while on vacation. The bathrooms were clean; showers, sinks worked well. There also is a washer/dryer which we did not need to use. The owner is easy to contact and even brought us some fresh fruit as a welcome gift. We were also supplied with fresh coffee beans with a grinder and coffee pot. It is close to markets, drugstores, casual restaurants. It is a good location if you wish to explore Hilo and the Volcano area.

Beautiful place to stay when visiting Volcanoes National Park

We had a wonderful stay at the Bird's Nest while visiting Volcanoes National Park! This is a clean and comfortable home in a lovely neighborhood. There is easy access to the National Park and to the Hilo airport (about 25 minutes away). We loved falling asleep to the sound of the frogs. The roosters are a little less welcome in the morning, but the host provides earplugs if you need them! The beds are very comfortable and we all slept great. Kitchen is very well-equipped. Excellent communication from the host. Mahalo!

Unique and comforting place to stay

We stayed at the Bird’s nest for three days. The house is decorated well, feels like home. I really like the scented fresh flower in the bathroom. All rooms are clean with all the appliances we needed. We had great stay there surrounded by the tree frogs’ songs.

cosy and well-run

The Bird's Nest is as cosy as its name implies. It's also quiet, well-located, and well-run by thoughtful hosts who have provided almost everything you might need. It's one of the few places I've stayed with a superior kitchen-- in case you want to cook some of those lovely purchases from the local Sunday farmer's market. I would gladly stay there again, and I plan to!

Great property in HPP!

Khymberly's property was just right for us. We liked being raised up on a 2nd floor level. The grounds were wonderful and the wildlife entertaining. Close to the Puna trail to Shipman's beach and other attractions in the area. A relatively short drive to Hilo as well. The beds were comfy, the amenities just right and a wonderful base camp. Recommended!

This has been our 2nd stay here and we really enjoyed stay again. House has a very nice layout. Has everything we needed for our visit. Quiet Neighborhood. A lovely home with tons of amenities. The only thing I would like to see is furnishings in the bedrooms so one can unpack and get settled in. Presently there are no drawers or shelves in which to put one's things. So I had to live out of my suitcase. The closets are large and shelving in one half would solve the problem.

Enjoyed our stay and it was a great location. Had great weather in the month of January. Khym is a great hostess and goes out of her way to answer your questions very quickly. Tranquility!

We loved the Bird’s Nest! It was just as it was listed. The house was well-appointed and very comfortable, especially the beds. We slept well after a long day exploring Volcanoes National Park. I’d forgotten how lovely it is to wake up to the sounds of nature. If you want peace and quiet that isn’t too far from Hilo, this is the place for you. And Khymberly is great to work with. She’s responsive and clear in all her communications—very much appreciated. We would stay again.

Hilo side near Puna

We very much enjoyed our stay at the "Birds Nest". We were serenaded by birds, frogs, and crickets overnight and the occasional rooster in the morning. The home is furnished nicely and is well set up for a small family or 2 couples traveling together. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need and they have many staples available for you to use. The grounds are very pretty and the outdoor space is very usable. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at the Bird’s Nest! This property is truly outstanding in the region. Great value. Large living and dining area with a spacious covered backyard-facing (privacy) balcony. Fully equipped kitchen, complete with all the essential utensils, appliances, gadgets, dishwasher, garburator, and gas barbeque. The separate laundry room and second toilet and shower downstairs makes this ideal for families and longer stays. Both bedrooms were rather comfortable, and the overhead ventilators throughout the house made things nice and breezy. The property was very clean and in excellent order. Our hosts were responsive. The big bonus of this VBRO was the availability and generous stocking of the pantry and cleaning supplies. This alone helped us to avoid wasting hundreds of dollars on what would have been only partially-used containers of condiments, spices, and certain food staples. I liked the pay-it-forward attitude of the venue.

This place was very clean. However, the owner are constantly on your back by texting you to turn off light, close the doors and many more messages that disturbed your short vacay. And when I left one day earlier she texted why I never Informed her a head of time. I paid for the place already so she should not try to rushed cleaning it for the next customer. She should wait for the day Im scheduled to move out.

Beautiful Property, Excellent Experience

We enjoyed our stay at The Bird’s Nest. The property is spacious, clean and well equipped. It was a perfect place to hangout. Check in was easy and the hosts provided a plate of fresh fruit which was much appreciated as our flights to the Island arrived late in the evening. There’s so much to explore on the Big Island and it was great to relax here at the end of the day. Highly recommended this property.
