well the hotel has notice boards everywhere...don't do this ...don't do that. Feels like in school. Also the owner was kinda annoying. Coffee and breakfast is just slice of bread with Jam. which too was over only half of our party could do the breakfast. World cafe which claims to give you 50% off to Yahata guests is also not nearby...quite a walk. You can't do that with your luggage. Check in is only from 4 to 9 pm not anytime after 4 pm which was a bummer since we had to leave our dinner half way to rush for checkin because owner wasn't ready to adjust.
Small traditional Japanese house owned by a gentle couple. Friendly helpful owners with fluent English. Carefully prepared travel info provided.
My husband and I had a private tatami room, it was big enough to fit four people.
Slightly far from the local subway station, but a 10min walk through safe quiet neighborhood is acceptable (midnight also fine).
Highly recommend to travel through Kyoto by bus. Their subway is a big mess and a lot of walking involved.

Very nice staff
I enjoyed my stay at Guesthouse Yahata. It has affordable price with clean rooms. The hotel is located in a very quite neighborhood. It was fun for me to experience tatami the first time. The owner is a very nice lady. She planned a one-day trip agenda with beautiful attractions while I was there. Also, I accidentally left my glasses while I was leaving to Tokyo. It was very kind of her to offered to mail it to my new hostel. Overall, I highly recommend this place.
Hosts were very kind and helpful, the room had a good size and with futons. It was clean. Good for the price.

Fair, reasonable
It's just enough to stay and spend nights. You can't expect lots, but far better than shelterless. You can have a shower, sleep in a room with air conditioner, have a slice of bread in the morning with coffee.
You can also get some information about Kyoto in English.
Guesthouse owner and his wife were so kind and accomodating. I traveled to Kyoto in the off season, so I had the guesthouse pretty much to myself, which was nice. Also, you get the chance to meet other travelers while you stay here, which is always fun as a foreign person in a country. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back when I return to Kyoto
