Expedia.ca app. The listing for the property indicated that “breakfast is included,” which reasonably led me to believe that breakfast would be provided for all guests in my party, including children under 12. However, upon check-in, I was informed by the hotel staff that breakfast is only complimentary for two adult guests, and that an additional fee would be charged for children. At reception, the staff insisted this was “hotel policy” and demanded we pay 1,980 yen per child, per day. That added up to 7,920 yen per day for our group, and for 2 nights that’s 15,840 yen extra! This was never clearly stated in the booking details on your app. Had this information been transparent, I would have reconsidered my choice of accommodation entirely.

Everything was great about the Via Inn Prime but the pillows. The location couldn’t be better, the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, but some unknown reason the have literal bricks for pillows. I wish I was exaggerating when I say they are THE hardest pillow I have ever felt. I even asked for a new pillow from the front desk and somehow got one that was even harder. Perhaps bring you own pillow, but outside of that one oddity, definitely a great stay.

The staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and spacious. The location is fantastic- across from Kyoto Station, shops and malls. Many amenities are provided in the lobby and there is a 7/11 attached with an entrance to the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel!

I recently stayed at this hotel and had several disappointing experiences. One of the main issues was having to request fresh towels every single day, even though I had clearly indicated that I wanted daily towel service. This seemed to either surprise or bother a particular front desk staff member, which made me feel uncomfortable for asking for something that should be standard. The first room we were given had a very strong and unpleasant smell, as if someone had eaten a specific type of food in the room and it had not been properly cleaned or ventilated. It was overwhelming. I brought this to the attention of the front desk, and they did change my room. However, in doing so, I had to give up an upper-level room with a nice view for a lower-level room where I could clearly see into the windows of the neighboring hotel. I actually saw guests changing clothes in full view from my window, so I had to keep the curtains shut during my stay. On a positive note, the breakfast staff were kind, attentive, and welcoming. Their service was the highlight of the stay. The hotel is in a good location, but that alone did not make up for the frustrating experience with the rooms and the poor service at the front desk.
