I was so excited to stay at this hotel with my family! A game room! And a kids pool with splash area!!! Fun fun fun!! Except when we arrived the nice young man at the front told us there was no game room. It’s just a room with colored carpet and then to our surprise there was no kiddie pool! Plus they had major construction going on. I tried to speak to the general manager mark clossey who did not want to Hear my complaints. Basically told me I should of complained When I was there and it’s too bad. Then hung up on. I’ve never been treated That way with anyone from costumer service.

It started when I had to park far from the hotel as parking is taken up by construction containers. I parked in a very muddy area that has mud on my car and dust on my parts. The room was not ready to after 4 as they did not have enough housekeeping to do the rooms in a timely manner. The room did not have a working thermostate so they had to remove the cover form my air conditioner to make it operable but it is the old unit and it did not work well. The refrigerator did not work in my room and in many of the other rooms. The staff did not come to clean my room till after 4 o"clock in the next day. The resteraute had posted a dinner buffet from 5 - 9 and at 4:30 removed the word buffet from the sign. When I spoke to the staff their responce was so what. I thought that was false advertizing.

The entire hotel is being renovated, however we were not informed until 24 hours before our arrival date. There was no hot water the first day and no restaurant on site. We chose this hotel because we spent our honeymoon here 46 years ago, but we will not be returning.

The arrival at the hotel was where it started. Having been under construction for so long much of the parking spaces were taken up by shipping containers and gated off areas where no construction was happening so parking was quite a distance from the lobby. The renovation took out the furniture where you could sit and look at the event booklet. So there were people sleeping on the sofa where people will eat. I was allowed into my room early and the woman at the desk was an angel. But my key did not work and after carry my bags to the room from the long walk to the building and having to go back to the desk was daunting . Arriving in my room I noticed there was no trashcan so back to the desk, no ice bucket back to the desk, the ice machine did not work back to the desk, no coffee machine to make coffee back to the resterante. I had a ground floor so I could walk out side to see what looked like Dresden circa 1943. The construction with fencing beer cans and trash was very unpleasent, the fact the the door was able to be locked except by deadbolt was troubling. The managers were hearing many complains from many people staying there and had I been paying 90 dollars a night I could over look much of this but not for what their charging. The mangers seemed indifferent and just said it is what it is and sometime little things do not go well. I do like the location but staying there is not a good experience.

acceptable but worn

Pros: nice looking lobby, big
Cons: old, worn, lack of spending upgrades including working wifi, yet want to charge guests for using a fridge
Location: near many things
on the plus side, this is a lovely very large family hotel with a family friendly pool and sandbox. if you are carrying some luggage then it is ok to get to your room. For those who need a cart to get their belongings, or trade show folks who have their displays to their room, it is challenging to navigate with stairs; it may only be 7 stairs, but still not easily navigable. The halls show signs of wear and tear, stains in the ceiling. The room was pleasant and clean, but 1970 fixtures, phones, and dresser draws that do not slide open. The bathroom floor and sink were upgraded but the bath was old and stained. The toilet leaked from the bottom. Honestly, all of this was ok for me as I just needed a place to sleep after a day of work. The biggest issue for me was when I requested a fridge for my special foods needs and they wanted to charge me $25. I never hear of this in all my years of travel. So it bothered me that they don't spend money on upgrading the rooms/hotel/ramps, etc. yet they want money for a fridge. The other big issue is the wifi does not work anywhere even in the lobby or in the ballroom where vendors needed the wifi.

going downhill

We tried to check in at 3. They couldn't accomodate us until 4. We came back at 8. They gave us 3 rooms but 2 did not have a.c. We went back and they gave us 3 other rooms. They noted that there were a.c. problems on the floor they first gave us (why didn't they just give us good ones?). We went to check the three rooms and one was occupied! So they sent us keys to another room (we waited 10 minutes). The facilities need a major overhaul. The pool is not filled (it's about 3 feet where is says 5 feet). it was supposed to open at 9 but didn't open until 10. Check out is 11 which seems early if the check in is 4.

Do not stay at this hotel!

We stayed at this hotel for a dance competition. As soon as we got in the place we noticed the ac not working. The room was even worse then the lobby. We called an complained. They said they were working on it and would send someone to the room to look at it. Nobody showed up. We called again next morning nobody picked up the phone. We walked down statirs to front desk to talk to staff. The staff was rude probably cause of all the complaints. The staff offer no apologies. The hotel was over charging for this run down hotel. The outside pool was also not working. Hours later the water pipe leaked and water was dripping from the one ceiling in the hallway of our room. It eventually was flooding. Nobody was allowed down the hall. Eventually the ceiling collapsed. The staff was avoiding peoples complaints. They did absolutely nothing. Parents called 911 for assistance with these unsafe conditions. When the firemen came we were all told to evacuate the hotel. The dance competition was canceled. We were escorted to our room with the firemen to collect our belongings quickly and to leave the hotel. Worse experience ever.
