Holiday Inn Haydock must be, after nearly ten years travelling for work and staying in numerous hotels over that period, the noisiest of them all. Most of the soft close mechanisms on the doors in the corridors no longer work and so, people moving about late at night and early in the morning can be heard as clear as day as the doors slam shut. The televisions are also very frustrating as the channels are randomly ordered, and so trying to find something to watch takes forever. Friendly and helpful staff but that doesn’t improve this score unfortunately as the real villains here are the hotel owners who have decided not to invest in ongoing maintenance over the years resulting in these issues. My advice, TAKE EARPLUGS!!!

I don’t usually write reviews, but the staff here were so lovely that I wanted to. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful, above and beyond what we would have hoped for. Everything was clean and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was good (and great bonus that kids eat free). The people really made it a great experience though, and they were particularly kind to our children, who were tired from travelling.

Stayed at the IHG haydock hotel. No one at reception when we arrived, had to find someone to get checked in. Got to room and unpacked, put TV on no channels set up had to call reception to get someone to attend room to sort out. Room was cold and we could hear the traffic, next day I noticed the window was broken and wouldn’t stay closed allowing the freezing cold air in and noise. Reported this but couldn’t be sorted out until maintenance staff come in the next morning. Bathroom was mouldy and tired. At 2.30 am in the night people started slamming doors, woke us all up and couldn’t get back to sleep. I won’t being using IHG hotels again.

I stay here all the time when I’m working as it’s straight onto the M6 so location is great BUT it’s the staff that are always lovely & helpful especially the amazing Jackie who is always there at breakfast and literally makes you feel happy & comfortable as she is extremely professional

We had a issue with the room staff sorted the situation promptly. Staff were friendly special mention to Jacqueline at breakfast she was very welcoming and enjoyed talking to the children. The swimmimg instructor lady on saturday moaning was also lovely as she let the children play with swimming noodles.

We had an excellent stay. Stayed as a family with 7 and 5 year old visiting family. Room basic, but everything we needed, facilities on site are good and free parking too. My kids made good use of the pool. Good choices for everyone at breakfast. We have stayed before and will do again.
