A beautiful, modern, bright & spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms and an extra sofa bed in the centre of London on the world famous Fleet Street. Big Ben, The London Eye, London Aquarium & more are all less than 10 minutes away. The apartment has everything you need for a great stay, as well as kitchen with everything you need should you wish to stay in one night
Blackfriars Station and City Thameslink are just a 5 minute walk away In order to combat unsolicited parties and be kind neighbours we have a noise monitoring device in the apartment. This is a camera free device which you can find more about online by searching for Minut. Should the noise breach a certain level after 8pm for a sustained period of time then we will be alerted and will call the Police to attend the apartment to put a stop whatever is taking place. Your reservation will then be terminated with no refunds and your security deposit retained.
We are proud to be good neighbours and absolutely will not tolerate anti social behaviour of any kind whatsoever.
Communication was fantastic. You will be where the action is. Easy walking distance to St. Pauls and multiple Underground stations. It is noisy- but as to be expected in this type of prime location in the big city. Bring earplugs if this bothers you. I'm a light sleeper, and I was fine.You can tell that this VRBO has many visitors, so it has some light wear and tear that comes with heavy usage. This is as expected- again, very nice flat in a prime location. Bathrooms and kitchen are gorgeous. Lots of storage. Very clean- we watched the cleaners finish mopping as we arrived a bit early. Generously sized main room. Bright and airy- lots of natural light throughout the apartment.Building is very interesting. Do some research into the address once you receive it- It was fun to learn about its history. Strong Wifi throughout the apartment. When I return to London, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.
The location was perfect for walking around the major sights of London. The flat had lots of room for everyone and was generally clean. However, all of the door handles were loose and ready to fall off. Shower doors are corroded. It could use a fresh coat of paint, a change of carpet on the stairs, more comfortable beds, and a couple more chairs in the living room. The cleaner had done the laundry from the last guests and left it out drying in the dining room and on radiators. A bit of TLC is needed to make this a great property. Easy check in. The host was quick to respond to all inquiries.
The property claimed to be in the heart and very close to attractions. It was mainly in the business district which is lifeless at night. I didnât check this too hard so thatâs on me. Someone mentioned no lift so that was not a surprise. All you need to do is update the mattress and everything changes. It can barely be considered a mattress. The place was nice - âlargeâ for London I guess but not large. It was probably affordable due to location. The tube was more than 5 minute walk.
Great place, great location, but needs some improvements.
First the good: The location is great. London has a big heart, but this apartment is definitely in it. The apartment is spacious, and it has 2 floors which allows for some privacy if you are together with another family. Two full bathrooms and an extra toilet make it also convenient for a larger group like ours (6 people). Very nice spacious kitchen with newâish appliances: good fridge, stove with oven (top heat only) and a microwave.
For the location, season and the size of the apartment, the price was very good!
The downsides and opportunities for improvement:
Firstly, if I had known all the downsides, I wouldâve still chosen the apartment. I am sharing these, because a lot of them are fixable.
The noise: there is a compressor (somewhere) that comes on and off every few minutes and when it does, it makes noise loud enough that it is really annoying at night. Itâs not loud enough to bother during the day. The windows are old (single glaze) and they barely filter any outside noise too.
The kitchen wasnât equipped for 6 people â not enough cups, plates etc. Not enough pots. Most of the ones that are there are severely damaged Teflon, which is actually toxic.
The cleanliness: the apartment, the sheets and the kitchen were generally looking clean, but my socks were dirty from the floor in minutes and the strings to open and close the blinds were sticky (we used them through a paper towel to avoid touching them).
The Internet was very slow â especially the upload speed â it took minutes to upload a photo and videos would typically time out with an error.
Worth to note that both bathrooms are upstairs and the one with the shower is an on-suite, so access to it is a bit a nuisance as you must go through someoneâs bedroom. For sharing, It wouldâve been better if that bathroomâs door was to the hallway rather than the bedroom. The other bathroom has a bathtub, and it couldâve been used for shower if it had a curtain installed (I would suggest that).
Some disrepair included two holes in the ceiling (living room and one of the bedrooms), and one of the roof-emergency exit doors had a big gap to the outside as the door was chipped along the bottom edge. I would hate to speculate as to how that happened, but if there were any rats outside, they could easily get in.
4th floor, no elevator, very narrow staircase to get in.
The floor is very uneven throughout the apartment â I guess an old building.
