The property had a very major bee infestation. A friend of ours had 6 bee stings that week at the hotel and they had to move his room to try to get away from them. They had some maintenance going on as well and sometimes the main restaurant would close if they were having a "fiesta" outside so you couldn't sit down inside to eat at times or order off the main restaurant menu.

The property advertised it’s sister property which is newer. When we arrived to solmar we were super dissapointed due to the fact that we thought we were staying at grand solmar due to the pictures that where up on the add. When we checked in they said they had upgraded us to a junior suite for free but when we arrived to our room it was a regular studio. We had ants in our unit the whole time of our stay. Only two restaurants were accessible at our hotel and the services was horrible. We ordered room service and only got partial our order, waited over an hour for the remaining hour. When we tried to call the front desk to transfer us to a manager and or the restaurant we ordered from no one picked up the phone and addresses our needs. We had to physically get up and go to the restaurant for them to tell us they could not reimburse us as it was already charged to the room.

The bathrooms need updating but the food was delicious and staff was great! This is more of a family hotel rather than the younger scene.

We love the staff.....they were kind, considerate, always helpful with a smile on their faces. The rooms were quaint and sweet, and our housekeepers were incredible humans. The rooms were clean and had wondrous views of that gorgeous ocean. Loved the pools, the restaurants, the food. The grounds were gorgeous and the commitment of the grounds workers was so impressive. We loved it and shall come back.
