We loved this quaint hotel. It was a bit off the beaten path, but still accessible to downtown. The staff was very friendly and accommodating; the grab and go breakfast was good, they had on-premises parking for no extra charge, AND there was coffee and fresh cookies available 24-7. All in all, a great stay and a great deal for the money!
This charming hotel has so many quirky stairs and corridors. The rooms are always spotless and the staff is super helpful. We stay here every time we are in Portland.
The hotel was nice...a little eclectic, but nice. The room was nice clean and the bed was comfortable. Being in town next to the hospital was a little loud for traffic but bearable. The thing that hurt was there is No Elevator, and the staircases are all very steep. We got winded going to our 3rd floor room, but once in the room it was pleasant.
What a lovely Inn and such a friendly staff. They were so helpful. We are seniors and didn't realize we had booked a room on the third floor. There is no elevator and the house keeper carried my wife's bag downstairs to the lobby for us. This meant so much as my wife has trouble with stairs.
Very nice people in a very charming hotel, european style, with real keys.
Room 108 is on the street, ask for a quieter room if it's possible.
The breakfast place is very small but you can bring your plate in your room. Limited menu, no egg no bacon but bagels, muffins, cereals and fresh fruits. Enjoy !
For a last minute stay from an Expedia booking, this was amazing. I love the building and the j side was cozy vintage style decorations. Staff were very friendly. Bed was ok, nothing to write home about. Breakfast was a basic continental with coffee, breads, fruit and yogurt. The bathrooms are not in the rooms, which I was ok with. If you want your own private bathroom make sure to find a room with that included. The other restrooms are single occupancy but shared with the other rooms on the floor. Overall I was super happy and will come back!
Lovely. Comfortable. Chock full of charm. My room with a jetted tub was perfect for a quick, but relaxing one stop night. Facilities are clean and cheerful. Super cute breakfast and coffee bar. Microwave and fridge in the room very convenient. Would have liked to have stayed more than one night. But, one in Portland, this is where I will stay.
The hotel and our room were cute & quaint. They took the time to put special Easter decorations up. It was adorable. Staff was great and so helpful. just wish we would have been a little closer to the Arts District and Old Port. You can walk but it’s a bit of a hike. If you have a car, you’re good. Free hotel parking too!
Great location for us, Big, comfortable room and great help staff. If you do have issues with stairs best to request a first floor room. Stairs are a bit steep.
I’ve stayed at the Inn on St John many times. I have a long commute from home to Portland. I stay when the weather is bad and the travel is dangerous. I like to stay at the inn because the it very affordable, comfortable and very easy to check in, find food nearby and relax in my room. I’ve stayed in many of the rooms large and small and I’ve never had a bad night. Staff are super friendly. The parking is easy. It s also a nostalgic place as I grew up in Portland and My dad was friends with the Lekousi family who owned the Inn. There was a Greek bakery next door.
The rooms are small. I opted for a private bathroom. The staff was friendly. I was hoping for a hot breakfast but the bagels, oatmeal, cereal, and yogurt was adequate. Limited parking.
