Loved it!

Great place! Very clean, good service from mgmt. and beautiful pool. We felt very safe due to high wall around the complex and security on premises at night. We’d stay there again!

Super fint vÊrelse. Stort 100 kvm lejlighed med 2 badevÊrelser og kÞkken. Dejlig stor altan med udsigt til stor pool. Det er ikke sÄ meget i omrÄdet, men 12 min gÄtur sÄ er du i byen.

Family Friendly Appartments

Arrived to the apartment building (before 7pm), if later you'll have to alert the management. They have a full time security guard but he's not the check-in personal. The facilities were super clean and well maintained. We were lacking couple of towels which were provided by the personnel promptly. if you're on the lower floor and if there are families with small children as guests you might be woken up quite early by their pool time. To be noted, the beach is not within a walkable distance, you'll need to take your car or find a taxi (front desk is super nice to call for you if needed).

Good Facility, Not Nice Management

The facility itself is great. But I don't know if I return or recommend this place to other people. It has a great pool, HUGE apartment, however, our check-in experience was horrible. We got there around 5 which is not too early or too late. The person showed up a few times after we rang the bell. He was on the phone pretty much all the time while we tried to check-in. Not just that, he said the exchange rate is $1 to 20 pesos which is unheard of. Most of other touristy hotels and restaurants in the same day were using the exchange rate of 1:17. We almost left feeling it's very dishonest but since we would be changed for the last minute cancellation anyway, we decided to stay. At the time of booking I was quoted $78.54 (with taxes and fees) but upon our return I noticed that I was charged $86.30. It is only less than $8 difference, but it left us a bad taste. All other hotels during our trip (most are booked through hotels.com) were using 1:17 exchange rate. As for the apartment, everything worked well, but light sleepers, be aware. There is no blackout curtains. In fact, all the curtains were too short and too narrow, not preventing any outside light. And the common area (and the back of the apartments) lights were on all night. Also, this a condo/apartment, so there is no amenities like shampoo, and the place is not very convenient if you don't have a car.

Though I speak Spanish, no English was available and should be considered if one does not speak Spanish. The place was not ready when we arrived late and they have no ability to accept credit cards and expect cash. There was no notification of this until our late arrival and it became a significant inconvenience due to the hour and cash on hand at the time. Overall a great value for a three bedroom apartment.

Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay at mayan house, about a 5 minute walk to the main area as its on a side street but we always felt safe walking. The lady in charge didn't speak much English but it didn't seem to matter much. Extremely clean and large areas to live in, and the pool was great after a day exploring.

Far from beach, ideal for family with car

Not exactly where spotted on google maps, slightly more at the north (150m approx.) these appartments are modern, nicely furnished, no room cleaning, no breakfast, but nice kitchen, dining room, and washing machine: ideal for long stays. Nice swimming pool, very clean. the hotel lacks of charm, but is very practical. the killing factor for us was chlorine saturated water in the bath: without speaking of cleaning your teeths, a shower with water with so much chlorine was painful for the eyes and the smell. might be temporary though

El hotel esta excelente Solo tuvimos unos inconvenientes, tuve que pagar en efectivo porque no cuentan con terminal para pagar con tarjeta de credito, pero me entere hasta que llegamos. y averigue que desde febrero no funciona su terminal. Solicite 1 cama queen size y 2 matrimoniales y la habitacion me la entregaron con 1 king size y 1 matrimonial. y en precio hubo una pequeña diferencia entre lo que muestra su pagina y lo que pagué Seria conveniente que en la pagina te adviertan que tienes que realizar tu pago en efectivo. Me sentí engañado

Great accommodation, Great location, Great stay!

We stayed here for 14 nights in April 2017. Mayan House is a small complex of 3 x blocks of 6 apartments set around a great outdoor swimming pool. During the day the reception is open, it is closed at night however there is an onsite security man who is around to help if you have any problems. The hotel is very secure with a main gate that you are provided a key for. There is plenty of parking if you have a car. The location is fab. Mayan House is on the opposite side of town to the beach, however this isn't a problem because if you are near the beach you are further from the town and vice versa. We found it was easy to walk to town for meals in the evenings (depending where you eat it can take as little as 5 minutes), and then walk / cycle / taxi to the beach during the day. Tulum is quite spread out in general so everyone gets around by walking, bike or taxi. To get to the furthest end of the beach strip you shouldn't pay any more than 150 pesos for a taxi, however you can sometimes get this for less. It seems to depend on the time of day. There is a supermarket (Chedraui) on the other side of town if you want to stock up for self catering. The apartment kitchens have the basics in terms of equipment, so you would struggle to cook big family meals, but there is enough to get by. Apartments 1-6 are on the quietest side. They DO NOT accept credit/debit cards - we were advised once we had checked in that we had to pay in cash in local currency so be aware of this.

Mayan House Tulum Review 2017

The place is new and clean. We got 2 bedrooms and a large space living room with kitchen. The pool was a real nice touch. Internet speed was a drag. We had a hard time finding this place. No street name. Bikes were available for use. Taxi cabs are available just a few steps out of the place. A couple of stores nearby if you need water or supplies. I would suggest the owner to put a sign on the main street to guide guests. Overall the staff are really helpful. Only one of them speaks good english. This place is great for large group of people atleast 4. Lastly its pricey compared to other places.

The caretakers of this hotel were very attentive.

On one afternoon after returning from town the hotel staff took us to the coconut trees growing on the property and spent some time chopping us (and a number of other guests) down a whole lot of coconuts, then preparing them for us to drink. Very educational. Very pleasant family was running the place.

Not as described

After getting correct room , shown three different rooms but not one booked , beware no washing machine in rooms - no penthouses on site - beds like concert slab , pool was good only couple English TV stations - walls very thin hear everything from room above during night , noising staircase outside doors slamming , rooster next door goes all night not at sun rise - Wouldn't pay anymore then $100 a night for three bedroom

Walking distance to downtown Tulum.

Added another night with ease. Relaxing pool, quiet stay. Area outside of hotel not welcoming- poor roads leading to it and razor wire on the walls. That was off-putting, but the inside was very nice.
