The Sunset Road House (Hot Tub! Hammocks! Fireplace!)

The Sunset Road House is a two bed, two bath newly renovated 1952 homesteader cabin just 15 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA.

We have designed this home so that our guests can unplug and relax while enjoying all the modern amenities. Enjoy the spectacular sunrises and sunsets from the expansive deck and relax in the hot tub at night surrounded by open desert views, wildlife, and a starry, starry sky.

We recently did a total renovation (down to the studs!) on this mid-century gem so it has every modern amenity for you to enjoy. It sits on 5 gorgeous acres which you can explore during your visit. You must drive a couple of unpaved roads to access the house but no visitor has had a issue so far, Prius included! Local residents include rabbits, roadrunners, turtles, coyotes and all manner of desert creatures. Our favorite thing about the property is that it truly feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. Check in and tune out :)

The large, open concept living space has a modern kitchen, dining space and living room area. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master has a king bed (with en suite bathroom) and the second bedroom has two twin beds which can be converted into a king, at your request. The second bedroom also has a full bathroom. The home works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. If you need accommodation for more guests we also have a recently renovated vintage travel trailer available for rent near by. Feel free to inquire about our other properties! We welcome pets with a $50 pet fee per pet.

The Sunset Road House is about a 12 minute drive to downtown Joshua Tree (fun shops, restaurants & bars) and a 15 minute drive to the Joshua Tree National Park Visitors Center at the west entrance of the park. In addition to hiking, we are close to the renowned Integratron (a healing sound bath experience) or enjoy a tour of the Gubler Orchid Farm. If you are looking for a little action, head on over to Pioneertown (25 min drive) and visit the Old West movie set before dinner and drinks at the famous music venue, Pappy & Harriet's. You might even get lucky and see The Rolling Stones do a set!

At The Sunset Road House there is a fabulous swimming pool (seasonal) and both a bocce ball court and a horseshoe pit... or do absolutely nothing and lie on the chaise lounges, looking out at the expansive desert by day and/or soaking in the hot tub at night under a blanket of stars. Take in the desert air in the private outdoor shower whenever it strikes your fancy!

This place was truly exceptional. A definite 10/10. The home is beautifully appointed, with every detail thoughtfully considered. The beds were unbelievably comfortable (honestly some of the best sleep we’ve had), and the entire property felt private, peaceful, and nothing short of magical.The host struck the perfect balance with communication, both responsive and helpful without ever feeling intrusive. We camped a few nights in Joshua Tree, then stayed a few nights here and treated it as a home base for exploring the region. It was super easy to find and get in. It was clean, cozy, and cute. It was well-stocked — coffee, kitchen implements, coffee paraphernalia, fresh towels, shampoo, soap, etc. Perfect for resetting and removing that stinky, camping goodness. While there, we took advantage of the grill, fire pit, hot tub, and really enjoyed the remoteness and how quiet it was. The hosts were also extremely transparent, helpful, and very quick to respond to any questions.

We spent an amazing 4 days and 3 nights at the house near Joshua Tree. Clean, comfortable and inviting. Owners responded quickly with any questions we had. Beautiful area to watch the stars at night and about 30 minutes or so to the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. All the amenities were there as advertised.

This vacation rental in Joshua Tree was fantastic! It offered plenty of activities and was perfectly located near the park. The check-in process was seamless, and the sunset views were breathtaking. The hot tub and pool were perfect for the weather during our stay. Highly recommend!

Can’t wait to go back

Living in CA in this economy we share our home with our 4 adult children and grandbaby and let me say this was a much needed get away. It was secluded, quiet and beautiful. Exactly what this overworked and overstimulated gen x couple needed. We drove through Joshua Tree national park during the day and enjoyed relaxing in the jacuzzi at night. 10/10 and can’t wait to go back.

Gorgeous getaway

As i was driving into this beautiful home I felt like i had made a mistake, but wow was i so wrong! My friends & i were welcomed by this beautiful, peaceful, welcoming home. I dont think the pictures do this place justice! It truly feels like you are able to disconnect from the city and have all the conforts of the city life.

Perfect Desert Escape

Was looking for a place that was super remote but with all of the comforts of home. This place hit just right. Check in process was easy, everything we could need was available (robes were super cozy and perfect to put on after a soak in the spa). Visited the area for a long weekend escape for my husbands birthday and enjoyed every second. Woke up to an amazing sunrise on both mornings. Wish I could have stayed more than 2 days, but I will be back. Thank you!!
