A dreamy Venetian pied-Ă -terre boasting a gorgeous rooftop terrace in the genteel district of San Samuele in the San Marco sestiere.
Swaddled in silence within a labyrinth of antique alleyways amidst an oasis of fine palazzi a world away from the tourist trails, the charming Corte Rossa Terrace sleeps 3+1 guests in freshly refurbished surroundings set within an entirely detached property (quite a rarity in Venice!)
Overlooking a peaceful little courtyard to the fore, where an ancient âvera da pozzoâ stone wellhead keeps a little water fountain company beside rambling foliage that tumbles carelessly over a palazzo garden wall, this pretty terracotta pad offers 2 cosy bedrooms in bright and breezy accommodation laid over 4 floors.
Sharing its distinguished and hauntingly atmospheric central locale with Francois Pinaultâs Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art, the birthplace of legendary lover Giacomo Casanova, and the prestigious Grand Canal palaces collectively known as 'Palazzo Mocenigo' (once the Venetian bolthole of 'mad, bad and dangerous to know' British romantic poet and literary figure, Lord Byron), Corte Rossa Terrace offers air-conditioning throughout along with Wi-Fi, dainty balconies and a furnished terrace on the top.

OUR COMMENT
A divine pied-Ă -terre with truly impressive outside space, quietly tucked away yet an easy stroll to St. Markâs Square.
Rubbing shoulders with some of the cityâs most coveted residential addresses and ideally placed for the first time or regular visitor to Venice who appreciates peaceful surroundings yet whoâd like to stay close to many of Veniceâs star attractions.
Within a stoneâs throw of the Accademia Bridge / Galleries, and within moments of several osterie, the outdoor cafes of Campo Santo Stefano, a wine shop, a local grocery / delicatessen, plus a well-stocked and newly re-opened Despar supermarket just a little further on.
Seconds to the areaâs antique shops and galleries including that of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana â a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine âOfficina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novellaâ â one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine deâ Medici.
Also close to 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops â San Samuele and Santâ Angelo â for foot-friendly exploration of the city, and moments to the local âtraghettoâ at Garzoni which, during operating times, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to San Toma in the district of San Polo.

This apartment is squeeky clean, comfortable, well equipped, and in a pretty part of town, near a vaporetto stop but away from the crowds. The lovely lady who greeted us as we arrived could not have been more helpful, and responded quickly to our every question. We really enjoyed our stay here!
The house was spotless clean, very nicely decorated and fully equipped with an eye for detail to make our stay super comfortable for our family of 4. Lots of smart storage to unpack like youâre at home. I would definitely recommend this to my friends. Super good and prompt communications w/host prior/during/after our stay. Location is perfect in a quiet alley away from the business but still only minutes away from restaurants, water taxi/bus, and the main city sights.
We loved this spot and would highly recommend it. Caterina was very communicative and helpful in traveling to and from. Rossana met us at the water bus drop off, led us to the location (a very short walk) and then she kindly gave us a lay of the land.
The apartment was perfect for our family. There are narrow stairs, so be prepped for that, but that comes with the territory of Venice overall. And of the places we reviewed, this one stood out as a gem and proved to be!
Tolle Wochnung, gute Ausstattung.
