Known throughout the world as the city built on water, given its construction on 100 islands in the lagoon, Venice is one of Italy's most popular locations worldwide.
It is a real open-air museum, thanks to its historical and artistic heritage made of churches, palaces, and museums.
Strolling through Venice is like diving in the past: the so-called calli (streets) are dotted and framed by aristocratic buildings such as the Doge's Palace, the historic home of the Doges, spectacular bridges including the famous Rio Alto Bridge, and canals navigable by gondolas, waterbuses, and boats of all kinds.
The heart of the city is the enchanting St. Mark's Square, which houses the Basilica of the same name and welcomes thousands of tourists from all over the world every day.
The most famous local event is definitely the Carnival, thanks to its centuries-old tradition of masks and costumes that enliven the streets every year.
Last but not least, the famous "BĂ caro Tour" is a must: a tour among taverns to taste local wine along with cicheti, typical Venetian tasty bites.
The accommodation is approximately 4 km from the Venice Santa Lucia train station.
We enjoyed Venice thoroughly and the location was great we got a feel for the local neighbourhood and were very close to St Marks Square. All we needed at the apartment was provided and we felt at home. Thanks
Close to restaurants, bakeries, fresh fish market, fresh vegetable market. Easy access to public transport/ boats. Felt like a good local experience, not crowded with tourists but easy to get to all the sights.
This apartment was well situated in a quiet residential area. Having 2 full bathrooms and bedrooms was convenient. The apartment is recently renovated and has a good layout. Overall it met our needs and was clean and quiet but there were some issues not addressed by the host. While the apartment itself is nice, the conditions outside are unacceptable. There is 0 signage to indicate the apartment despite the check in instructions indicating so. We had to try 2 different lock boxes to find out which appartement was ours. Host responded the sign likely fell off. The entrance is dilapidated and appears to be under construction with debris all over the place. The staircase leading to the apartment has no lights. At night we had to use our phone flashlight to climb the stairs. It was very unsafe. When I brought this to the attention of the host the reply was that they were not responsible for the exterior or the unit. Within the unit there was a strong musty odour in one of the bathrooms. There was no shampoo or body wash in either bathroom. One bathroom had a missing door handle. One remote for the AC was broken (buttons completely missing). The beds were hard and pillows completely flat. The wifi didnât work until we reset the modem. The host wasnât helpful at all and didnât acknowledge or try to address any of the complaints. We were very disappointed with Wonderful Italy for not even trying to address the issues other than instructing us to disconnect the modem.
