Oceanfront in Hilo Hale Kai Suites Bamboo Room - King Bed, Private Bathroom

Hale Kai Hawaii Suites offers four oceanfront rooms (booked individually) and a spectacular, panoramic view of the blue Pacific Ocean and Hilo Bay. We overlook the popular Honolii surfing beach in a peaceful location just 2 miles north of historic Hilo Town. Revel in the best views in Hilo while at our pool and oceanfront lanai!

The Bamboo Room offers a king bed, private bathroom with shower, WiFi, SMART TV, small fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, hot water pot, toaster, dishes and utensils, ceiling and portable fans, no air conditioning, and sliding door to lanai. Continental breakfast items are stocked daily and we invite all guests to swim in the pool or lounge on the oceanfront lanai.

A few NOTES: One parking spot is provided per room in this quiet residential neighborhood. All Guest Rooms are facing the ocean on the lower level of the property and there are over 30 steps down (pictured) to traverse to the rooms. Guests are responsible for carrying their luggage to their rooms. Bookings limited to 2 guests per room (including children). Quiet hours are 9pm to 8am for the comfort of all of our guests, Mahalo!

While at Hale Kai (House on the Ocean) Hawaii, enjoy watching surfers, dolphins, and seasonal humpback whales during their annual migration to the Hawaiian Islands from the north Pacific. Globalement satisfaits de notre séjour

La chambre est spacieuse et lumineuse. La vue sur l’ocĂ©an est trĂšs sympathique par contre il n’y a pas de plage accessible de la propriĂ©tĂ©. Le petit dĂ©jeuner est top (fruits locaux, yaourts, Ɠufs, cakes, 
). Le systĂšme de panier avec vaisselles sales et poubelles de compostage Ă  remettre dehors tous les jours est originale et pratique. Par contre, le fait que note chambre soi accessible dans notre absence sans qu’il y ait de coffre fort pour nos objets de valeur me semble peu sĂ©curisant. On n’a jamais eu de problĂšme nĂ©anmoins. Il y a des grenouilles coqui qui sont trĂšs bruyantes la nuit mais c’est un flĂ©au dans la ville entiĂšre, je ne sais pas si le proprio peut remĂ©dier Ă  ça. La ville en elle-mĂȘme n’est pas trĂšs animĂ©e et il n’y a pas beaucoup d’activitĂ©s aux alentours. Un peu vide par rapport aux autres villes de l’archipel.

Comfortable stay withgreat view

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Just a few recommendations: instructions to the room could have been a bit clearer. Luckily, we got here before dark. Outdoor lighting along the path would help, too! The breakfast fruit and muffins were a very nice touch. Kekela was very nice, too!

Wonderful location!

The view from the big windows was spectacular. We enjoyed our breakfast on the patio every morning. The floral display around the house was stunning. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We did trips to the north and south ends of the island. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful Babymoon Stay

This is the first b&b that we've actually gotten the breakfast part of the b! The Bamboo room was well equipped and quiet at the end of the house (no one passing by our porch). The breakfasts were such a nice touch with super fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and muffins. I love that it was provided because it allowed us to sit out and watch the sunrise with our coffee (also in room with fresh milk). It was so nice to really enjoy the lanai without having to leave. The pool was so nice in the heat and my husband loved watching the surfers down at the beach. Screens allowed us to open the windows and listen to the ocean and animals at night. Truly a wonderful stay close to Hilo, Volcano National Park, and other east island points of interest. Thank you for sharing your home!

Great B&B

The room was nice, and they stocked your fridge with a nice breakfast for each morning. The pool is incredible - it over looked the ocean including a nice surfing beach and Hilo town. The room also had a nice private lanai area for each room overlooking the ocean.

Perfect for us!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! The lanai looking out over the ocean was exactly what I wanted. We enjoyed getting to watch the surfers down below. The daily breakfast was perfect and the coffee was delicious. We had the property to ourselves so it was very quiet and peaceful. My husband and I both agreed we will come back if we get the chance!

Hilo Tour

We are Hawaii island residents and we played tourist for a long weekend. The location was great and close to all the museums, the zoo and dinners. The sound of the ocean was very nice and the unit had a great view. We even saw a cruise ship come into port from our unit. We ate at HBC and Cafe Pesto. We also had a nice drink at The Hidden Nene (speakeasy in town). The bed was very comfortable and the continental breakfast consisting of muffins, fruit and boiled eggs were great! The only downside is parking. The space is very restricted so I would suggest a car or small SUV. We have a full sized van that was tight.

Amazing Hilo BNB

Absolutely amazing stay at the Bamboo room. We woke up to ocean waves, fresh papaya, boiled eggs, yogurt, and other tasty treats. We had a great time staying here and would definitely come back!

Beautiful property

Property is absolutely beautiful with a nice view of the water. Room had everything we needed and the included breakfast was delicious. Location is a little bit remote but we never had a problem finding an Uber. Overall great stay.

Absolutely lovely!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. The view was spectacular and a dream to wake up to every morning. The staff was attentive and we enjoyed the breakfasts provided. It was a 10/10 experience and we would highly recommend this B&B to anyone traveling to Hilo!

Surf views and solitude!

Amazing location with views of Hilo and the nearby beach. Breakfast was healthy fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and muffins. The parking was a little tight in a mid-size car, so don’t bring an SUV (or arrange to park on the street). Very quiet and comfortable room.

Great Location and View

We loved our time! Check in was seamless. The Bamboo room is on the end of the line of rooms and private as a result. Excellent small breakfast each morning that varied from day to day. Direct view out of the window onto the ocean. One night some dog barking, but this went away quickly and left just the sound of the waves and frogs. Parking spot is a little tight, but wasn’t a problem even in our mini-van. Pool was well maintained and with a great view as well. The jacuzzi was always covered, but maybe they would have opened it if we had asked. We would definitely come again. Thanks for hosting us!

Underwhelmed

The room was clean and nice but that is all I can say that is positive. The driveway and parking is atrocious. There are 4 small parking spots with very little ability to maneuver. Getting to you room involves uneven stone stairs, going down then back up. The breakfast is a plate of fruit, hard boiled eggs, store bought muffins at best. And that meal is put in your refrigerator the day before. Impersonal

Beautiful view!

Breakfast on the patio looking out over the ocean was a highlight of our trip! Our unit was good sized and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. The first breakfast was very basic, but the next two included delicious fruit plates.
