Imagine sitting on your private lanai watching the sunrise, smelling the salt air, and listening to the waves hitting the beach just 75 FEET away. This is what a Hawaiian vacation is all about.

2025 UPGRADE: We have just installed brand new mini-split wall AC units throughout the condo! Enjoy the tropical breeze or cool down in comfort.

Why Choose "The Big Pono Aloha"? Most condos make someone sleep on an uncomfortable living room sofa bed. Not here.

We sleep 6 people in REAL beds.

Master Suite: King-size bed + private bathroom/vanity (Sleeps 2).

Guest Room: Queen bed + Twin Bunk Bed + private bathroom access (Sleeps 4).

Top Floor Privacy: You are on the second floor (accessible by elevator), meaning you get the best ocean views and no noisy neighbors walking above you.

The Space We are Joel and Tamara. We stayed in this exact condo years ago, fell in love with it, and bought it! Now, we invite you to make it your home away from home on the famous Coconut Coast in beautiful Kapaa.

The unit is spacious ("Big" is in the name for a reason!), featuring a full kitchen, dining room, and large living area. Don't waste money on tiny hotel rooms when you can spread out here.

A lovely condo located on the beach!! Very well equipped with beach toys and even golf clubs
 and the pool and other amenities at the Pono Kai resort were outstanding too! Beds, bedding towels and kitchen supplies were excellent!We hope to stay again!

Overall this was a great place for my family. We liked the area and it’s within walking distance of a lot of eating and shopping options. It’s in a good spot to access both the north and south shores of the island. The unit is on the second (top) floor and there was no noise from any other inhabitants. The resort grounds were well maintained with a lot of different things to do - tennis, croquet, giant chess, etc. The pool was a hit with the kids in the evenings. They let kids feed the koi fish every morning.Cons: the front door lock was fairly finicky, there was a code but the mechanism would stick and sometimes not unlock the door.FYI each building has its own coin operated laundry so you may have to wait on others when washing and drying clothes.

Great Location

This condo is in beautiful Pona Kai Resort with full use of equipment and facilities. Watch the sunrise over the ocean from patio or bedroom. We enjoyed walking along the ocean walkway every morning. Centrally located in Old Town Kapaa

Amazing vacation

This condo was perfect. The description was exactly what it was. It was so clean and had everything you would need. The view was incredible to just relax and watch the waves. Got to see several whales go by. We brought binoculars which helped. You will not regret renting this property.

This place was perfect for our family of 4. The condo was very spacious and was bigger than expected. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was perfect for making meals at home. The view was amazing and sunrises sublime. The location was great if you plan to visit both south and north sides so that you are located in between. The Pono Kai resort was good. Amenities were adequate. You have go to the front desk to check out things like ping pong paddles, croquet set, etc and they close at 6 so we had wished that it was possible to do some of these things after 6. That was our only comment but it is no fault of the condo owner, just an odd resort policy. The resort and grounds were nicely kept. We would stay here again. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful place with ocean view!

We loved our stay at Pono Kai. The location was perfect for exploring all parts of the island. The town of Kapaa has lots of shops & good eats. The sea breeze coming in through the window every morning and night was perfect. There was no need for AC. Very clean and check in/check out were very easy. Would definitely stay again!

Just lovely!

Very nice property. We stayed here with grandparents, kids, and grandkids. Six of us in total. Beautiful ocean view and everything we needed for a fun time on the island. Great location. Close to restaurants and grocery stores.

Holidays at Big Pono Aloha!

My wife and three young adult daughters stayed for a week over Christmas. Really enjoyed going to sleep at night listening to the waves, having morning coffee on the lanai with the beautiful sunrise, the great beach access, the walkway and short walk to local shops and restaurants in Kapaa. Was a great space and central location to enjoy Kauai! Would highly recommend.

Doesn’t get better than this!

We had the most INCREDIBLE stay at this condo! The beach view does not get any better than this! It is also spacious with a full kitchen (which saved us a lot of money on food), has VERY comfortable beds, two large bathrooms and a comfortable living area to relax after long days in the sun! We loved having the AC units available if we needed them. This host was great at communication and has truly thought of and provided everything needed to have a great vacation! We really enjoyed having Tommy bahama beach chairs and beach umbrellas, beach towels, boogie boards and sand toys all provided by the host. We have had to rent those items in the past on trips to Kauai and it can be pricey, so we really loved having them available and ready to use! We used them everyday. One thing to keep in mind is that because this is a private rental, the resort does not provide pool towels, so bring the beach towels from the condo when you hit the pool! We loved the pool and hot tub. The resort itself is breathtaking. It has hammocks all around the resort for lounging, along with games , BBQ’s and other things to do. We enjoyed the nice little beach right outside the condo that we went to when we didn’t want to drive to another beach. You can’t beat this spot! Our stay here was by FAR our favorite visit to Kauai and a lot of that credit goes to this condo being close to shops and beaches and the host providing everything we needed and more! We will absolutely be back for another stay here!

Best sunrises ever!

My mom and I recently stayed at the Big Pono Aloha, and had a great experience. The location of the resort and the resort itself were perfect. It's super easy to walk to anything you need in Kapa'a from the condo, and the beachfront walkway is right outside your door. We had a couple issues during our stay that were quickly resolved by the on island management team and the property owner. Despite the problems, I'd stay again and recommend the property to my friends and family.
