Location was great, near the metro and loads of dining options in a charming part of Kyoto. The reception was friendly though nobody replied to us when we enquired about restaurant booking help through Expedia. The room was comfortable with a nice shower and they offered free coffee in the lobby lounge, but didnât refill the coffee in the room after the first night. There was no view from our room though it didnât matter much with us being out of the room most of the time. They have a coin-operated laundry and will keep your luggage till 5pm after which there would be a charge.
The room felt dark and claustrophobic. The window was frosted so, no view. There was minimal storage. No drawers and no hooks to hang clothes. There was a cubby space in the bathroom where shelves could be added and a wall next to the door where hooks could be placed. Shelves or drawers could be added to the bottom of the closet. The bed side tables could be replaced with ones with drawers. The coffee machine in the dining area made great coffee. The bidet was modern and very nice, The staff spoke English and were extremely polite and helpful.
We arrived for a 5 night stay and were booked into a room the management knew a smoker had occupied. Although they tried to freshen the room the odor was powerful. Having unpacked before the worst of the smell was noticed, we were offered to pack up and move that night, and then would have to pack up and move again the next day, and again the next day.
Finally we agreed to suffer one night and someone managed to juggle the reservations so we could enjoy the next 4 nights. They did give us some gift coffee packets to compensate.
The hotel is in a terrific location, about 10 minute walk to subway and Nishiki market.
