Log cabin nestled beside Chiques Creek in historic Lancaster County
This 3-bedroom home is a great place to get away and relax or as a home base for your tour of historic Lancaster County. It is located minutes from Hershey Park, Lancaster County tourist spots and the Spooky Nook Sports complex (home of the US Womenâs Field Hockey team) yet apart from all the traffic on a quiet rural street close to Siegrist Mill covered bridge.
Built on the foundation of an old grist mill, the home provides history and charm. Fall asleep to the sound of the mill race right outside your bedroom window. Spend the day watching birds from the sun porch or just enjoying life while watching the creek and its variety of wildlife from the front porch.
Quiet, lovely stay. This place is great as a homebase for a stay in the area. It is a little dated but everything works, it is clean, roomy, and comfortable. The host is very responsive, check in and out is easy. Highly recommend.
This was a well equipped VRBO on a quiet country road. Everything we wanted to do was within an hour drive. There were many options close for fresh produce.
We planned our entire vacation around one event. We had made reservations at The Sight and Sound Theater. We had reservations for a Thursday afternoon show. The rest of the week we just went in and shopped at local stores, ate at local restaurants and spent a couple of days just relaxing around the cabin. The cabin is very homey and a great place to relax and get away from the daily grind of life. We will definitely stay here again.
But there are a few things that really should be addressed, and a a rental property owner, these comments are meant constructively. The location, neighborhood, and house itself were VERY nice. Very âcozyâ Wonderful AC kept the house cool as it was hot & humid this weekend. House was well appointed with necessities, beds quite comfy and the sun porch was lovely. The only thing lacking was some glassware for cocktailsâŠwine, rock & tumbler glasses would be nice. We did find the house has a problem with black carpenter ants. We found a âcolonyâ under the master bath mat which we had to âtake care ofâ. Also found them along the baseboards in the bedrooms. We needed to purchase Raid spray & vacuum the bedrooms after. Iâm going add we noted many cobwebs etc in the corners & under the beds. I donât think we would have stayed had we not vacuumed. After our efforts we no longer had an issue. I strongly recommend that renters be informed that the house has well water, at least I assume itâs well? If not still, when the shower was turned on there was a POWERFUL odor of sulfur. Fortunately the odor dissipated after letting the water run. However, we did have to go out and buy bottled water as we found sediment in our glasses when the ice cubes melted and also in the coffee pot. We did not feel comfortable drinking from the tap.Lastly, the WiFi seemed taxed as the TV would freeze & have garbled sound as there were 6 iPhones in use. LONG âsearch timesâ on our phones.Love the birds!
We found the house very easily with the directions. As we got to the driveway, we were VERY DELIGHTED with the log cabin! The online outside picture does not do justice. The setting is , serene, and beautiful. The inside was very clean; we were able to adjust the thermostat to our comfort. Our only reason to give four stars instead of five was due to the musty closed-up smell in the air. Maybe dehumidifier or remove carpets. That is our only suggestion. We plan to return for family functions and would be happy to stay again. Thank you for an overall great experience.
Lovely location with walking distance to a beautiful covered bridge. Comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings with a fully loaded kitchen of anything you may need.
This was our third time staying here since January of this year to attend volleyball tournaments at Spooky Nook. It was exactly what we needed. Three athletes and the moms. Much better than staying in a hotel. Space to spread out, a full kitchen to prepare meals to have instead of eating out the whole weekend, definitely more economical to split with three families than individually each staying at hotels for multiple nights. Host was easy to get a hold of and very responsive.
This location was perfect for me: rural, quiet, and picturesque. Space with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths made this very comfortable. Seemed like we went to stay with owner's grandparents based upon age of appliances, decorations, and mismatched kitchen dishes and utensils. So would have been happier if the home had been updated a bit more and purged of grandma and grandpa's old stuff.
A beautiful home, very comfortable, clean, romantic area. Pitch dark at night but never felt spooked or scared. Just a feeling of relaxations and calmness
We recently stayed at this property for a weekend for a baseball tournament at Spooky Nook. The cabin had a vintage, âgrandma and grandpaâ vibe â think floral couches and wood paneling, which may feel a little outdated for some, but gave me a homey nostalgic feel. You can clearly see that vibe from the listing. The master bedroom bed was not the most comfortable, but the other double bed was comfy. The master bathroom shower didnât get hot, but we used the other shower with no issues. For the price, I canât really complain. It was a great deal for the size and location, which was so close to the tournament â and we didnât have to get on and off a highway to get to Spooky Nook which was a plus. Hotels nearby charge way more for just one room. This way we had space to spread out with our toddler, ten year old, and my mother who stayed with us for one night who was able to have her own room.If youâre looking for something sleek and contemporary, this isnât for you, but if you just need space for a budget-friendly price, this cabin could be just what you need. Would definitely consider returning.
Perfect for our volleyball tournament at the Nook!
Simple and comfortable accommodations close to Spooky Nook and more affordable than a hotel room! Having a full kitchen saves money on all the endless eating out you tend to do if you are traveling for these tournament too - a great bonus to going this route! This was our 2nd stay this club volleyball season and we will be there one more time in April too! Can't wait!
If youâre in the area for sports at Spooky Nook I recommend staying here. Itâs a ten minute drive to the facility, costs less than a hotel, and has the comforts of a home without being cramped with your family in a hotel room. Iâve rented here twice and while it does just fine when we are at tournaments.
In town with my wife and 3 friends for an archery tournament at Spooky Nook. Very comfy house, had no problems at all. Super convenient and will definitely look into this location next year for the annual tournament. The owner Kathy was very communicative and helpful.
We were staying for a volleyball tournament at Spooky Nook. We are 3 players moms (so 6 guests) and this space was just right! Much better option than hotel rooms for sure. Full kitchen and multiple baths work out so much better when attending tournaments. House is exactly as described. Comfortable and well stocked. Less than 10 minute drive to the Nook. Economical to go this route since you can cook meals rather than eating out and/or at the Nook! We have reserved it already for the 2 other upcoming tournaments we have this club season! Host was lovely and responsive.
We have stayed twice at this property. We enjoyed our stay both times. The house is cozy and clean. My children said it reminded them of staying at grandma and grandpa's house. Thanks for a nice place to stay while we visited family in the area.
