1st room key did not work - had to go back down and were given a new room and key Back door to parking was left unlocked instead of only accessible with key. Property had no air conditioning, one 2 prong outlet in main part and one outlet in bathroom . They charged 30 a night to park even though the sign outside said $27 , room was very worn and dated. Was not a good value for the money

It felt like a real stay in San Francisco, without all the hotel chains on top. The property conditions could be better but they were not bad, it was comfortable, would recommend.

The area surrounding the hotel is ROUGH. It smells like you-know-what and there is garbage everywhere. The hotel was fine. There were marks on the walls and doors (like they had never been wiped down in 100 years. The carpet is dirty and needs to be replaced with hardwood. Phone did not work. Crumbled dry wall dust/plaster in all corners of the room. Bed comfy. No AC, loud outside with the window open. I would not stay here again but it did the job. Lovely vintage looking lobby and nice staff.

Rooms are outdated, stairs steep, elevator works but is small. Parking lot is behind hotel but is pay to park lot for the public and guests. Neighborhood is very dirty and very questionable after dark. Front lobby was very nice they should improve th rest of the hotel as well

For the owners/manager’s info

We are generally not fussy travelers, but you should know that the particular room we stayed in (317) was not like others in the hotel (shown in Hotels.com). We like older hotels and understand the difficulty in maintaining them, The bathroom however had been repaired in a manner that showed no attempt to maintain the classic look. There were holes all over the tile and big, messy smears of white filler over the green tile. Also the tv stand was broken and the bed had no headboards (although the mattresses were comfy). Note — the lower “cleanliness” score was for the smell in the halls and room. The room was perfectly clean but had a stronger odor than most older hotels (but we know it is hard to mask the odors that old hotels accrue). Thank for a generally lovely stay and nice staff. I offer this feedback ONLY so you can improve for others. David
