Avis pour Dog-friendly turn-of-the-century home in Old Town near the Bay
Master shower didnât drain while taking shower. There were ants crawling all over table in dining room area. Spring tails( bugs) in upstairs bathroom shower/tub. Spring tails ( bugs) all over kitchen counters. No tv remote for master bedroom. Was advertised there was Netflix and hbo to watch tv but did say we had to log in to our own account to use. Have stayed here before and last time it was fabulous so I donât know if a new company is cleaning/ taking care of this home but was very shocked to see the difference between the two stays.
We could not make the key pad door lock thing open. I called and spoke to a customer service agent who told me it was because we were a little early. I asked if they could override it because we were tired and wanted to go in. "No" is the answer I got. Apparently it was impossible to do that. So we waited around the property only to try again at 4 and still could not get in. The customer service person helped me figure out how to get the key out of the lock box but I couldn't figure out how to shut it again and it was cold outside and the thing was wet and dirty. Clearly we could have been given this option before. We went inside and found that the house is nice but smelled strongly of old house smell. It's not musty but just not good either . The bath towels on the second floor were wet, the bathrooms were dirty, and there was water in the washing machine. Someone came and took care of those things. We never could get the locks to work so we just used the key the whole time. The bathrooms are very nice. The decor is nice but a bit sparce. More lamps in the living room would be nice. The front steps and railings are sketchy. The view is lovely and the neighborhood is beautiful. We had a good time. Overall I think I would have felt better if the house didn't smell so bad and if the front porch and steps were better.
The interior of the home served our purposes, was well located, and comfortable. We appreciated the dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer. While there was no air conditioning, the breeze through the home kept the temperature reasonable (although there are no window screens). When we arrived at our check in time, we found ALL towels hanging in the three bathrooms to be literally SOAKING WET (not just damp). Since we weren't certain of their status, we spent our first evening at the home rewashing and thoroughly drying them. We only received door code information for the back door and the parking in the back alley was tight. As suggested, we parked one car on the street, but had to go around the back to get inside the home. The front steps are steep and in need of repair. Further, the steps were partially obscured by the untrimmed front planting and weeds. The grass in the small backyard was long and brown with piles of dog poop in places. The management company chose to set up the patio furniture and BBQ the evening of our last day there and we had to hunt down the trash cans and wheel them back down the alley so we had a place to dispose of our trash. So, while the interior of the home was fairly well maintained, the exterior was not. Further, the VACASA management company provides a very impersonal experience. I believe the are located well outside the west coast area as I received a text at 4:30am regarding a maintenance person coming onto the property.
Extremely Disappointing Experience â Would Not RecommendI really wanted to enjoy this vacation rental, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Upon check-in, the home was in unacceptable condition â it was dusty, dirty, smelled unpleasant, and overall felt neglected. My group had to spend the first day of our vacation buying cleaning supplies and deep cleaning the space just to make it livable.Things only got worse when, by the third day, we discovered an ant infestation. I woke up to find ants completely infesting my suitcase â I even sent the hosts a video of the issue. Despite reaching out multiple times throughout our stay to address these concerns, I received no response at all. I was polite and communicative, hoping they would take our discomfort seriously, but I was completely ignored.Itâs been over two weeks since I returned home, and I still havenât heard back from anyone. This level of disregard for guests is unacceptable. I would not recommend this property to anyone â especially if you value cleanliness, comfort, or basic communication from your hosts.
Unfortunately, the house was not like I expected. Somehow, my daughter was unable to sleep; she was very congested and had a stuffy nose when she was asleep. There was no privacy at all, as there was no window or door curtain; anyone could see you from outside day or night. Also, there is no AC or kitchen fan. In addition, the windows were not opening. The only thing we like is that the rooms are big. Thank you
We enjoyed the beautifully, spacious, renovated home. It had all the amenities we needed. A simple walk to our favorite coffee shop, Curan. The home can easily accommodate a family or several couples.
This home was exactly what we needed for our family trip. We have extended family in Seattle and Olympia. This was a great midpoint to see everyone. It was in an ideal area where we could walk to the waterfront and get coffee in the morning and explore the broader area throughout the day. The accommodations were so comfortable and it was nice they had a high chair and pack and play for our 8mo old to use.
