Hotel needs to be updated I get they probably want to preserve it since it is an old hotel window literally could feel the cold coming in the vent on the ceiling was repaired never painted. Parking $10 per night in the back of hotel no security all dirt with gravel homeless hanging around out back. This morning as we left the hotel a man came running into the parking lot very scary. The room was so small had such limited space to move around. Worse part is we paid for the room assuming it would be a very nice hotel the name La Fonda has a reputation about being a nice expensive hotel it was not that at all. When checking in police were in the lobby an employee cursing words very unprofessional at the gentleman the police were speaking too. Room 207 the TV was not even working the front desk gentleman said I have to fix it everyday doesn't sound right. Step into restroom is very dangerous very outdated furniture which is good but not kept up with the carpet has to go light tan stains & could tell it was old too. It was unfortunate but for sure we will not be returning Sage Brush is beautiful comparing to La Fonda. After checking in we we're even afraid to stay but unfortunately we booked through Expedia & it was a non refundable or we would have left & rented another room elsewhere. We are writing hoping it gets to the owner old furniture is beautiful if it is maintained & kept up.

Love the location on the square for walking everywhere, coffee bar downstairs comfortable bed and Murphy bed! Staff is super helpful love that I can sleep w windows open at night! Beautiful old historic hotel!

The photos were genius compared to the cramped room. Even the placement of the furniture worked against functionality let alone comfort. Most disturbing was the step up into the bathroom. we left the light on all night lest we miss it and wind up face down on the tile. At least highlight it so it is visible. Also the toilet seat was broken. The mattress was like cardboard. A sad place relying on history...

The hotel is beautiful and very clean. The rooms all had unique character. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is right on the square, which is very nice for shopping and relaxing. The front desk person, mary, was extraordinary, and very accommodating and friendly. As far as the room, we were very disappointed in the size. Our room (410) was super tiny! There wasn't enough room to even open our suitcase! However, it was very close to the elevator, which took you to the first floor close to the back door where there is a wonderful patio that is lit up at night. And the parking is just steps away from the patio. Other than the room size, or stay was very nice, and the people were very friendly.

Charging 10 dollars for parking in Taos is just a quick cash grab. Didn’t realize there was a parking charge until I got there. The front desk lady was nice but couldn’t waive the fee since I went through Expedia. The bathroom layout was really inconvenient too. Bed was comfy though. If I go back to Taos, I would likely search for another hotel.

Quaint hotel

It was just for one night after staying several nights in Santa Fe. Hotel is very old, yet quaint. We chose because it is in the plaza. The parking lot at the back of the hotel is gravel — so very hard to roll your suitcase. Also, elevator in back of hotel, our room was six additional steps down and again with our suitcase it was difficult. Room was very small and rustic (outdated), but to be expected for the age of the hotel. The room was clean. The public gathering area was very nice.

Hidden parking charge.

We used to live in Taos. We are very familiar with the area, and have enjoyed staying at Hotel La Fonda in the past. This time, we were hit with a $10 parking fee. Looking way deep into the detail of the property, on the booking site, you can see it is declared. But beware, it is not obvious. The parking is not an issue at the property, there is no security, and we were never charged a fee before. In this area, there is really nowhere else to park, so they know they have you. I just didn't feel great about being charged. We will not book here again, as there are many other hotels in the area that do not charge for parking. There is limited food options at this property as well, a "to go" breakfast, for a fee. The property itself, has kind of gone down over the years, so we will explore other options. Lovely staff, good service. Clean room.
