Known worldwide as the city built on water, given its construction on 100 islands in the lagoon, Venice is one of Italy's most popular locations worldwide.
It is a real open-air museum, thanks to its historical and artistic heritage made of churches, palaces, and museums.
Strolling through Venice is like diving in the past: the so-called calli (streets) are dotted and framed by aristocratic buildings such as the Doge's Palace, the historic home of the Doges, spectacular bridges including the famous Rio Alto Bridge, and canals navigable by gondolas, waterbuses, and boats of all kinds.
The heart of the city is the enchanting St. Mark's Square, which houses the Basilica of the same name and welcomes thousands of tourists from all over the world every day.
The most famous local event is the Carnival, thanks to its centuries-old tradition of masks and costumes that enliven the streets every year.
Last but not least, the famous "BĂ caro Tour" is a must: a tour among taverns where to taste local wine along with cicheti, typical Venetian tasty bites.
The accommodation is a 12-minute walk from Venice Santa Lucia Station and 13 km from Venice Marco Polo Airport.
It was surprising that the only TV was in the kitchen. There were no TVs in the bedrooms which should be disclosed. There were very bold signs which stated not to change the thermostat which was set on 23. This was the first of our Italian travels which others allowed 18 as a setting. This was quite uncomfortable. The unit when climbing the steps is actually a 3rd floor unit not a 2nd as posted. There were no additional mirrors outside of the 1 in each bathroom for those ladies trying to get ready while their husband's shower. This is just a suggestion to help. The courtyard is shared which should be noted on the listing. Additionally, we did have trouble with both AC units in the bedrooms. One leaked for days and the other had no outside ventilation which caused hot air to blow back in.
The accommodation was in a good locatio, the buildibg was attractive but inside was very sterile. There were no pictures, mirrors only behibg the bathroom sinks, nothing to make it homely. Our kitchen had a boiler that seemed to serve other apartments too, when the boiler kicked in it was very noisy but it couldnt be heard in the bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds very comfortable. There were plenty of linens. The apartment also felt very safe and was easy to get to. There was an excellent restaurant and cafe in the adjoining square. The place could feel 100% better with a minimum investement in its appearance.
