Such a stylish hotel, with a beautiful lobby and decor. The staff were very kind. One con is that the room did not have a seating area other than the bed. In addition, some things were missing. The only place to get water was a water foundation with unfiltered lukewarm water. The parking is vallet but parked next door - if would be way faster to just get your car yourself.

Overpriced because of the unfriendly staff

The staff was unfriendly and uninformative at check in. They explained nothing about the property, they basically just handed room keys and didn’t even tell us the room number verbally. We arrived and no one was at the desk for check in but the three staffed workers ignored us and checked in people that walked up after us before finally helping us. If we hadn’t prepaid the reservation we probably would have just found a new hotel. The room was nice and basically on par with area hotels. There was food menu in the room but nothing was explained about room service availability or hours so it was of little use.

It’s a nice hotel, but I just wish the customer service were better. One of the women at the front desk greeted me with an attitude and wasn’t willing to work with me on upgrading my room or advising me on the parking situation. When I asked about parking, she responded with a smart remark. I even offered to pay for an upgrade and switch rooms, but she still refused to help and gave me a nasty attitude—while treating everyone else around me nicely. I visit Detroit often, but this will be my last time staying at The Godfrey.

Worth serious consideration.

Place exceeded our expectations. Hopefully they can reach at least a 4.5 star rating. Two negatives but not enough to knock this place, pillows did suck and the morning bartender at the restaurant on 4-5-2025 did not know what he was doing. I wouldn’t even label him “bartender”. Maybe he was filling in. But the valet attendant, front desk check-in clerk and bellhop were ALL very professional, polite and knowledgeable of their respective positions. Stayed overnight for Tigers opening day. Live just outside of Detroit but did not want to drive. The experience here has me thinking of staying downtown more often. Great location as Corktown has a little of everything.

First time, not a fan of the limited choices in the restaurant but the overall hotel was great. The front desk staff have limited knowledge of how late the restaurant stayed open and how late they served food, which made us have to walk to Irish pub across the street. But other than that, it was for my husbands Birthday and we will stay again.

From start to finish the whole experience was exceptional. People held the doors open. The front desk was very professional and made the stay easier. The room itself was absolutely amazing. It was spacious, the bathroom was awesome, and the view was beautiful. And the rooftop bar???? Incredible. I only wish we were able to stay longer. I would absolutely stay there again in the future because they do such a wonderful job with the ambience, the staff, and the amenities to ensure your stay is wonderful.

Hotel staff very friendly. Only negatives were we had to make a request from the front desk twice before it was fulfilled. And when waiting for valet the second day we had to wait 30mins for our car.
