Great hotel

I wanted to experience Edinburgh by staying in an authentic Scottish hotel, and The Place was that with a modern touch. Rooms were a bit small but clean, great bathroom and extremely comfortable bed. When I travel, a good bed is a must. Lovely buffet breakfast, or order off a menu. Down side: no elevators to floors where the rooms were. Dinner menu is only bar food and very limited. Staff was amazing and quite helpful with directions, and helping carry luggage. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect for Hogmanay!

Pros: The hotel is conveniently located near a plethora of bars and restaurants and transit. Their in-house bar and restaurant is also excellent.
Cons: Be advised - there is no lift, so you'll get your cardio in if your room is on the third floor.
Location: A 5 minute walk to Princes Street, York Place tram stop just outside, shopping and bars and restaurants within blocks. Location was perfect!
I was travelling solo, so the single room was a perfect fit. It was on the small side, but was well appointed, had a wonderful street view, and there was a nice welcome message on the flat screen when I arrived. Nice personal touch there. Bathroom was perfect for 1 person and was very clean, wonderful and had long-lasting hot water. Over the course of three days, I had absolutely no complaints.
