The Malinche Palace luxury villa with the stunning ocean view, close to the beach
Take your family, friends or colleagues on a vacation that they will always remember and cherish at The Malinche Palace. The Malinche Palace is an astonishing villa designed by the world-famous architect VĂctor Cañas, who is known for his contemporary style and utile approach to architecture. The villa is located in Playa Ocotal on the top of a hill, giving it a truly breathtaking panoramic view of the beach, the ocean, and the stunning mountains and surrounding jungle of Costa Rica. With that, the house is still only 8 minutes walk from the beach, accessed by your own staircase. Additionally, the property is 6 minutes drive from the Playas Coco Downtown, as well as only 32 minutes away from the Liberia Airport. The houseâs design gracefully blurs the line between indoor/outdoor living, with floor to ceiling glass, picture windows, and open areas. This open feel creates an atmosphere of tranquility and connection with nature, while still allowing complete privacy in each guest room. The property has eight air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, with a total of ten king beds. Each bedroom has its own spirit and style, giving each guest a unique and luxurious experience during their stay. The detached casita is cliffside with a world-class ocean view, master suite, luxury bathroom, and private balcony. Adjoining the main house is a two-story apartment with two upstairs bedrooms, a separate kitchenette, and dining area. The Malinche Palace is ideally suited for family members of all ages, a coupleâs retreat, corporate getaways, or the perfect destination wedding. Overall, the house is estimated to fit 20 people, and if needed, the couches and air mattresses can be used to accommodate up to 30 people. A spacious common area connects the main kitchen and BBQ area allowing your loved ones to truly enjoy each otherâs company while being surrounded by the beauty of Costa Rica. After a day at the beach, for a cozy night in, spend your evening in the movie room complete with TV, comfy couches, and a fully operating movie theatre. Or, spend your evening watching a beautiful sunset and the ocean view straight from the private pool while drinking a cold drink, then finish your day with a snuggle in the Jacuzzi. The Malinche Palace also has an ample green area allowing you to do yoga, read, and lounge while enjoying the beautiful garden.
One of our most popular requests is our chef service, available upon request for an additional charge, allowing you to fully enjoy the taste of Costa Rica. Our discerning guests are also pleased to learn that solar panels provide a large portion of the power used for greater sustainability as we help to preserve the natural beauty of our enchanting land. With the utmost thought and care given in creating The Malinche Palace, there are far too many delightful surprises and amenities to list here! Our greatest desire is to make your stay with us a dream come true, and we are more than happy to help you with
Everything about the property was amazing. Julia was very easy to work with and extremely responsive to all of our questions and requests. Andre was amazing to work with as well with the tours and knowledge of the area. The views were top notch. We would definitely rent this property again.
We came with a large group and needed all 8 bedrooms. The house is amazing with the open air floor plan making it ideal for gathering together and hanging out around the kitchen and pool.Julia was great (friendly and professional) and was available for anything we needed. We had an issue with a couple rooms air conditioning not working well when we got there, but Julia had someone at the house within 30 minutes and the problem was solved and the ac was working great. The cleaning crew, led by Gloria, was friendly and did a great job daily of keeping the place clean and tidy. They do not speak much English, but can use translator app if there is any need. We had a friend who was fluent, so he did most of the communicating for us:)The house is in a great spot and within a 10 minute walk to the beach. We were able to charter a catamaran through Julia and they picked us up right on the beach. We also had massages at the home setup and they were great as well.Father Rooster is a close and convenient restaurant nearby with great food and drink and an unbelievable location for views.Would highly recommend and we would stay again for sure!
We just had an amazing week long stay with 4 families (8 adults, 11 children). Julia was a fabulous host, extremely responsive and welcoming. There was plenty of space for all couples and children to not feel crammed or on top of each other. The house had a fully stocked kitchen, freezer for ice and large refrigerator, oven and grill. The daily housekeeping that is included was an extra bonus. We easily arranged activities and transportation through Andrey and each family rented a golf cart, which I 10/10 recommend for getting to the beach and town. We had a fabulous time and highly recommend Malinche Palace.
The home was lovely but is definitely in need of upkeep/repairs. Floor boards on pool deck areas are warped and lifting. The exercise area on the ground floor left a lot to be desired. Tile floors are very dangerous, even when pool deck is not in use. We were told by management not to close the doors around the kitchen because it was difficult, to watch the cleaning staff easily close them to clean, on the last day. This would have been helpful to keep the raccoons and skunk( hiding in the kitchen cupboards)out of the kitchen. The stairs in the 2 bedroom apartment are very dangerous and we had sewage odors from one of the bathrooms. If you are a home that sleeps up to 22 people, you should ensure that there is enough eating utensil to accommodate. The outdoor oven is slow heating and outdoor stovetop doesnât work. The housekeeping staff were amazing and very helpful, keeping our rooms & bathrooms clean. Always had the pool and room towels fresh and plentiful. Communication leading up to our trip was perfect. While we were there and encountering the skunk living in the kitchen, management was not so helpful.
This property is one of a kind. If youâre thinking about renting this house donât second guess yourself. If I could give a 10 star review I would. The only thing I would change is that we didnât stay long enough.
Place was amazing, we had an awesome time. The sunset views was spectacular. Its very close to the beach. Julia was a fantastic host. Kids had a blast in the pool. The house was perfect for our group of 19. You will not be disappointed booking this place. Julia helped us renting golf cart, which we used to go around the town. Tons of places to eat in town. She also arranged for massages in house and that was perfect. I highly recommend booking this place.
Julia, the host, was extremely accommodating and responsive before and during our visit. She quickly responded to all texts via Whatsapp and handled any concerns with care. For example, the dryer stopped working in the middle of our stay so she replaced it with a new dryer. She even replaced a TV in one of the rooms with a new one. The maid service was daily and very helpful throughout our stay. Would highly recommend Carlos, the bartender. He comes prepared with his own fruits for making frozen drinks that were absolutely incredible. His banana coladas we so delicious! Just be sure to tip well! We even tipped the maid service at the end of our stay. They were worth it! The cook was good but be prepared for bland food, not much seasoning, but still worth using the cook when everyone is around. Our first meal we had the night of our arrival was a Costa Rica dinner which was perfect after traveling all day. Everyone seemed to enjoy it! Don't order the pizza from the cook. We had to recook the pizza and guests still didn't like it. We ended up ordering pizza from Pizza Hub which was pretty good. Would recommend renting a golf cart or rental car even with the bad roads. Paying for a driver can get expensive. The one thing we didn't like was that everyone asks for payment up front in cash, supposedly to avoid the 13% tax, but it became a pain to gather large sums of cash from all the guests for the cook, driver, tips, excursions, etc. Overall, we had the best vacation!
House is beautiful only that appliances need upgrades. Grill not working refrigerators did not cool well. And lots of steep hiking to reach the beaches. Not walkable for elderly people. Which website did not specify.
The minute you walk through the door the view is stunning! The house is an amazing architectural wonder with a perfect view of Playa Ocotal. Close to Coco, walking distance to two beaches, and Father Rooster restaurant. You can get fishing trips and jet skis trips out of Ocotal. The house is tidied up each day and you can have a chef if so desired. The outdoor living is Costa Rica at its finest! Our family of 10 had more than enough space to spread out and relax. We appreciated all they did to make it a Christmas Vacation to remember.
We had the best vacation at The Malinche Palace.
The property was gorgeous and comfortable.
Everything was so lovely.
Julia went above and beyond for each part to make sure the property was perfect everyday.
I would highly recommend this place for the big groups.
14 of us celebrated together and had a wonderful time. The host couldnât have been more accommodating. She communicated great and always responded quickly if we had any questions. The chef service was worth every penny. Food was great and all the additional staff were amazing as well. The area was safe, the house was well stocked, and Mauricio was icing on the cake. He was so attentive to all of our needs and made everything happen for us without any hiccups! Highly recommend if youâre looking for a large space, love outdoors, sunsets and beautiful views!
We were celebrating a friends 40th birthday with 7 couples. The house was amazing and setup perfectly for everyone to have there own space with a great common area and pool to hang out together. We will most definitely be back with our kids to enjoy the experience! Julia was a fantastic host and made sure we had everything we needed. The rest of the staff was top-notch as well!!
I hoated my annual womens retreat at this location. Everything was as described & the pictures do not do this beautiful home justice. Julia was very helpful and attentive, helping to ensure we had everything we needed leading up to the trip.
Mauricio and Team were very helpful in planning excursions and getting us around. I recommend planning to use their transportation service instead of Uber due to the personalization of the experience and attentiveness of the drivers.
The house was cleaned daily and the cleaning team did a wonderful job as well. I canât say enough things about this home and the level of service and care provided. Looking forward to returning.
We only saw the owner at check in. We used Mauricio for all transportation and event planning. Heâs wonderful! Very accommodating and gave suggestions for outings, grocery shopping and dining. The house is beautiful, but itâs outside living. All bedrooms have ac, but the rest does not. The views are gorgeous!
Julia was great to communicate with. She provided all the necessary information like driver info, which made my stay easier and was always available to answer any questions that I had. The property came with a housekeeping staff which made sure all the rooms were clean.
Overall the property is stunning with breathtaking views from every angle. Some of the bedrooms need updating and had some minor cosmetic flaws like defective/ not working led mirror lights, outdated sinks and decor. Some areas like the guest house could use a fresh coat of paint to revive the overall aesthetics of the rooms.
I would not recommend using their âpersonal chefâ that comes with the property. The chef doesnât cook on site and the meals were not what I had selected from the menu I was provided with. I had originally intended to use the chef for the entire trip but I cancelled after day 2 and when I realized the chef wasnât on site to cook for us. The housekeepers were the ones bringing the breakfast and lunch over to our villa. ..Which were the exact meals both days, no variety or change. There are many restaurants nearby that you will enjoy or stock your groceries beforehand if youâll be cooking. The freezer section of refrigerator in the kitchen was not working so only a half of it was able to be used.
Our driver Mauricio and his partner Herman that was recommended by Julia were amazing! They were always available anytime we wanted to go anywhere or needed anything. Highly recommend them!!!!
Overall my group and I had a terrific vacation in Costa Rica at the Malinche Palace.
Iâd recommend this to anyone looking for a getaway. It is wonderful to be walking distance to the beach with amazing views inside & out.
This place is a gem of a place to stay for many unexpected reasons.
First of all, the chef is exceptional. We would highly recommend that people with young children who are looking for an amazing culinary experience book this place. The empanadas were as big as our heads. The sushi was a feast for the eyes and the bellies. The breakfasts were wholesome and filling. The desserts were incredible. We fed 8 picky eaters ages 5 to 9 and the kids devoured every single meal provided.
Secondly, there is a âprivateâ access beach called Playa Gringo and if you are in decent enough shape to hike there (and it is quite an uphill and curvy hike) it is the softest sand and cool sea creatures. We saw only a couple people each time we visited - such serenity and curiosities.
We tremendously appreciated the cleaning staff. My 6 yr old was thrilled to have a girl (staffâs daughters) to play, eat, and play tag. The kids were thrilled to have another kid to play with and to listen to her Spanish words as she colored (ârojoâ âAzulâ etc).
The curtains are sheer in several rooms You need to be careful about your room selection and lights at night if you are modest.
Things I would do differently:
-I would have brought pillowcases
-Brought vacuum water bottles that keep ice water cold because neither the filtered tap drinking water nor the water cooler water were cold and even putting bottles in the freezer didnât work.
-If I had known that the incredible chef is Filipino, I would have requested a Filipino meal for one of the nights.
-If I knew that jacuzzi means only bubbles and not warm water, I wouldnât have gotten my hopes up. Iâm a wimp and the pool and jacuzzi were too cold for me to enjoy. That being said, my husband loves a crisp cold dip on a hot day and the kids and my friends did not complain.
I absolutely wholeheartedly recommend this breathtaking home and kind hostess. The palace was gorgeous, comfortable, and fun. We saw interesting birds and plants right on the property in addition to the adorable lizards.
While other reviews had me worried about safety of property and bugs, we were not bothered by either (except for 1 night my legs were eaten by mosquitos because my daughter left the bedroom door open for 5 minutes w/ the lights shining). This was a carefree dreamy vacation. I hope many others will come!
We had a group of 14 adults and the house was amazing!! Everything was amazing the bartender Carlos was great, The car service was amazing and the chef dinners were delicious!!
Julia was a wonderful host and communicated quickly. The maids were so kind, did an excellent job, and chef service was very good! Used Mauricio for excursions and he was so personable and made everything more fun! Loved our stay, would definitely recommend!
