I was nervous about the area driving in, but in the end I’m glad we decided to stay. Was a really nice room, felt more homey than any other room I’ve stayed in. Staff was very nice and despite it being in a questionable area it feels really safe there you have a nice area to hang out in front of the door that’s clean and feels private, even though it’s right on the busy street. Food and some shopping is in walking distance and even though there’s no parking lot for the hotel itself, the parking garages are really easy to get to, and the staff even recommended one that has more security. So it wasn’t as much inconvenience as you think it would be. Overall, it was a great!

Clean, quiet, and comfortable - Rough neighborhood

Place was very clean and quiet and comfortable. Spacious and modern. The neighborhood was very rough however, which made checking in and out a bit weird and uncomfortable, especially at night. Homeless folks all around, broken glass on the ground while trying to get luggage out of the car, drug use, etc. Proximity to Universal and other places we were visiting was great.

Got bitten during the night – hotel refused to ref

I stayed one night at The Haas Hotel and woke up with multiple bites on my body. I informed the hotel right away and sent them photos of the swollen bite marks. However, they refused to refund me, claiming it was not from bed bugs. Instead, they said it could be from something else or even an allergic reaction. They also insisted I provide a photo of bed bugs on the mattress, which is unreasonable – most guests aren’t going to dig through the bedding in the middle of the night while in pain. I provided clear evidence of the bites, but they still denied any responsibility. I felt very uncomfortable, unsafe, and disappointed with how the hotel handled the situation. I will not stay here again and would not recommend this place to others.

I want to start off my review by saying some of this is on me and could've been avoided if I had looked a little longer. I probably should've known there wasn't going to be parking on the property but the information on parking is minimal. You have two choices for parking, one directly across the street for $15 a day not entirely protected and another one across the street for $25 a day but has a lot of security and lights. Unfortunately between both of them you can get charged the fee again if you leave again. There is a lot of homeless people in the area and I unfortunately saw some things the first day there. The lobby itself has security and will buzz you in. The staff was kind upon check in and explained everything to the detail. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and you can find pots and pans etc if your room includes a kitchen. The bathroom door isn't see through but you can see the silhouette through the glass if the light is on. On our first night we did have some issues with the room but the staff was willing to accommodate us into another room. The new room was much better. The second night the people next to us had a party from 5pm to 3am in the morning blasting music and when I called the front desk about it they immediately came up and handled the situation. I would still recommend the hotel to people and think the hotel is fine but I would just tell them to keep in mind of the area and the extra cost of parking.

The actual hotel room was a beauty. Spacious for my family of 5. If I can just stay in the hotel room all day I would give 4 stars not 5 because outside of the hotel was loud, ambulances, fire trucks, police sirens all throughout the night into the morning. When you step foot outside the hotel it’s a horrendous smell of urine literally everywhere you turn. Homelessness is out of control in this area. Parking was a nightmare had to find various parking lots that were 12-25$ usually during the day we chose the parking lots that were less expensive so that we can come and go, overnight we chose the parking lot that was gated but $25 each night. Nice room nice staff but once you’re outside watch your step.

The bedsheets were stained and dirty. There was makeup and discoloration on the white sheets along with a cigarette burn on one of the blankets. There is hair found everywhere, including one of the pillows, and then one part of the wall where I would walk by.

Terrible experience

Easily my worst hotel stay in many years. The suggested parking garage across the street was dangerous and not well secured. I fell in the garage while having to walk up the car ramp to my car. Instead of taking the stairs or elevator, which were not accessible. There is no area to unload bags in front of the hotel. Each night I was greeted by panhandling homeless people as I tried to enter the property. The hallway to my room had a terrible odor. The windows in the room must be paper thin because I could hear every car, siren, and person's conversation outside. My light sleeper son did not sleep one bit during our stay. Don't stay here if you are looking for restful sleep.
