Unique hotel near French Quarter.
I chose The Brakeman Hotel for a solo trip for an art exhibit. I felt very safe and secure. Even though the hotel is on top of the visitor's center, the elevator and hallway can only be accessed with a key card. The lobby can only be accessed with a key card after hours. Parking was nice and convenient and only $20 a day and I was able to walk into the French Quarter. There was no noise from the Quarter at all. The room was spotless and very quiet. Everyone prefers different mattress firmness and this was a little firmer than I prefer but was still comfortable. There is a K Cup coffee maker and plenty of coffee, tea, etc for coffee in the morning along with a safe and a small refrigerator. Mr. Gregory at the front desk is a wealth of information and will make wonderful suggestions for places to eat. This is a small boutique hotel with only 17 rooms. I would highly recommend and will stay here agin.
