30 year wedding anniversary, felt special!

This was an awesome experience!!! I would so recommend this resort! We stayed at the Beach Club which is definitely the way to go! John was our favorite conceirage. The temperatures were in the 80’s everyday, no rain, animals everywhere, from monkeys to lizards, and the people were so friendly and accommodating!!!

I would return a third time!

Pros: It never felt crowded, the food was great, and the hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.
Cons: do something to keep children away from the pool bar.
Location: town of Brasilito is just a short walk up the beach with a few bars and restaurants, plenty of resort activities or excursions through tour operators.
This was my second stay at the Westin Conchal in Costa Rica. As before, the hotel staff was amazing. Everyone was friendly and made it their mission to ensure the stay was wonderful. From the front desk, to the shuttle drivers, to the wait staff at the bars and restaurants... everyone had a smile and always greeted us, many times by name! The layout of the hotel is expansive, but the shuttles take you anywhere you want to go easily enough. I've stayed at many all inclusive resorts over the years, but this one has more restaurants than most and all provided good food, from the buffet to the pool side grill. Manglar, La Sabana, and Las Candalas were my favorites. The beach is just a few steps away and is a mile long from end to end... it was not crowded at all. Plenty of activities provided by the resort free of charge, and plenty more excursions and activities through tour companies.

Not so all inclusive and money miser resort!

Pros: most staff, location
Cons: stop the penny pinching and appear to be a Westin property
If you are choosing this hotel due to SPG benefits and you are not going to book directly via SPG, dont! Your benefits as a gold or platinum member will not apply unless you book directly via SPG. No upgrades or stay credit. What is stated as a all inclusive is not so much. Every restaurant will have a separate menu with the better items at a cost. Want a glass of sake at their Japanese restaurant, that will cost you even though the bottle of sake is $12.00 US. All of their restaurant will provide you will the pool bar menu should you ask for a cocktail list, even their imperial bar. If you get a room with the "private, glass-enclosed terraces" and you are on the first floor, it will not be private as staff walk by all day long and this is your only window into the room. That said you spend you stay will the blinds closed and zero outside view. Our room was a bit run down with black and pink mold on the fan an exposed wire leading to a light and other age issues. if you like to swim get it in during the limited pool hours and even more limited pool bar hours. The pool closes before dark. If you heard about a hot tube, we never found one. Tipping is obviously not required however you will feel that it is expected with all of the obvious tip jars everwhere If you dont want to have staff in your room for a day or during your stay you may want to inform the management as the staff to not follow the no service request and will enter your room. The character is too short

Wonderful and relaxing trip

Pros: The food was amazing, staff very friendly and courteous, and the rooms spacious and comfortable.
Cons: An "Adults Only" area around the pool bar rather than allowing children to play in that area.
Location: Long, sparsely populated beach, plenty of free resort activities to choose from, day excursions for booking, and the town of Tamarindo nearby.
The staff at the Westin Resort Playa Conchal were incredibly friendly and gracious. From the front desk, to the bar staff, to the hostesses, to the shuttle drivers... Every one of them did their best to ensure our vacation was relaxing and enjoyable. Everyone greeted us with smiles and many greeted us by name every day. The food at the restaurants was by far better than other all inclusive resorts to which we've been, with Catalinas being the best. The pool was much larger than expected and wound its way across the resort and there were plenty of lounge chairs for everyone. We took advantage of activities from sea kayaking to snorkeling and had fun walking the long beach.

Overpriced; lacking amenities

Pros: Beach outside the hotel
Location: There are better hotels nearby that have more to offer at a fraction of the price.
Room had a broken coffee machine, broken refrigerator and broken TV. Found it hard to get any service at all at the pool. Restaurants closed. Reservations required. Had to call room service every day just to get our daily ration of beverages.

Outstanding value for the price.

Pros: Enjoyed the iguanas, raccoons, and coatis that roamed the area. Never did get to see any monkeys. Staff provided great service.
Cons: Why not put free WiFi in the rooms? This was inconvenient for those of us who just wanted to check our email. $15/day is expensive WiFi.
Playa Conchal is a lovely beach. Great variety of restaurants and excellent menus. Room, restaurants, hotel grounds very clean. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Dose not live up to The Westin name. We felt the food was poor quality. We chose not to do the all-inclusive it was $85 a day per person. So we paid for the meals which were very expensive. There was no  servers walking around the pool or the beach  . Although the resort was lovely.  On the beach look for Erik best price for actives. Rafting was great ask for a guide named Hansel .

A great all inclusive resort.

We had a wonderful time. There were numerous visitors to the resort but we never felt over-crowded. It was difficult getting dinner reservations at some of the restaurants. I would have made them immediately upon arrival had I known it would be difficult. The buffet was always available. It was ok, but not great.

Perfect for relaxing

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, have to reserve your dinner restaurant
The hotel staff was really great, we ended up with a really great room and location. We had the swiss travel service pick us up from the airport which turned out to be good so we werent bombarded by people trying to get our business for travel to the hotel. Since we traveled with swiss all of our activities. I wish we would have done more, but the sunset cruise we went on were really great. I wish we would have explored more of what the resort had to do as well, like kayaking and snorkling on our own. The pool was really great, not too hot or too cold, i wish it could have stayed open a little later since the evenings are warm as well. The bar and bar tenders were really friendly. The food was pretty good, nothing out of this world but still good. Mitra, was where we ended up eating the most because of its more flexible hours. The food there was quite delicious. Room service food was ok not nearly as good as the food in the restaurants. Over all we had a lovely relaxing time. i would recommend this hotel to groups, families and couples alike. It was beautiful.
