The Trailsman Motel was fair. Pros: The property on the lake is lovely, the rooms are a good size, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the breakfast room was large and bright. Cons: the walls are paper thin. I could hear EVERYTHING in the room next door, even snoring and bodily functions and he was not a particularly loud person. Frankly I’m not sure what can be done about it. The breakfast was disappointing as well. The fruit looked and tasted like it had been served several days in a row. The pineapple had brown spots all over it. The hashbrown patties and the sausage also tasted like they had been leftover and reheated from the day before. Luckily there was cereal and yogurt. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it.

Pool was not functional, room was okay. This motel needs a refresh in the rooms. The breakfast provided was questionable. The location lakeside was amazing so it was a shame the rooms were in a poor condition.

The place is great for a night stay on a budget. The best part is they have breakfast included. The room was clean but had a musky smell to it. The rooms could use a do over. The guy at the reception was quite polite.

Service counter was organized, clerk was knowledgeable and friendly. Made sure we had an understanding of the provided services. Rooms were very clean, modern and well laid out. Very pleased. This was our 4th time for the stop over with my wife. Thank you!

Not worth the money

We were not given the room we booked and payed for. None available was what we were told, but we would get it for our second night. Didn’t happen, the owner said he forgot, the clerk said the room wasn’t available. The second morning there was no water pressure, no one got to shower in the entire place. The room was somewhat renovated, but didn’t feel clean. And they didn’t clean it at all the second day. Gave us clean towels and that was it. Front desk had no comment and didn’t offer to have it cleaned. They wouldn’t give a printed receipt, said they would email it at 11 that morning. Three days later and still waiting. The breakfast was okay, but they don’t serve real bacon or sausages. The turkey bacon the first day tasted like cardboard and we still aren’t sure what the sausages were. We checked out a day early and was happy to pay a little more for a decent place. The best thing about this place is the view of the water, but the large trucks constantly on the highway right beside the hotel ruined the location. It’s less expensive than most hotels in the area and there’s a reason for that. My advice is pay a little more and get a decent place. These people don’t give a hoot about good service or integrity.

Great Place to Stay

We had a great experience staying at the Trailsman Lodge. We had a wonderful Lake view even with a last minute reservation. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included which was a great bonus and very yummy.

The setting is nice overlooking the lake and nice to have a back deck to sit out on. The room was not very clean and especially the bathroom. The tub was dirty and mold in areas. The property is right on the highway so noisy all night. There is no dining so you have to drive into Baddeck. Wished we would have stayed in Baddeck. Wouldn’t recommend this property.

Staff were very nice and attentive to issues that could be resolved. Pool appeared out of order as water was green and slimy. It should be identified that pool was not operational prior to booking. Room heat was controlled by thermostat in hallway. Breakfast was hot and plentiful but poor quality sausage and eggs. Attempted to have shower but no water because I assume everyone was using it in other rooms. Grounds were mowed. Pop machine out of order and kids that seemed to live there were playing in ice machine. Tv channels almost unwatchable-lots of static. Not worth the cost!

The area behind the building was fantastic for relaxing. The substitute bacon for breakfast on our second day absolutely terrible. It didn’t taste like bacon and had the texture of cardboard. Please do not serve it to anyone.
