Straitsmouth Cove is a classic seaside “cottage” in a sublime location on Rockport’s Gap Cove. This elegant vacation home has the rambling, comfortable feel of a vintage country manor by the sea, making it a wonderful setting for a peaceful fall escape. The expansive green lawn, with its incredible waterfront view, is a most serene and awe-inspiring setting for enjoying crisp autumn days, relaxing outdoors, or playing a leisurely game of croquet. You'll enjoy stunning, unobstructed views of Straitsmouth Island from most rooms, as well as from the shady screen porch, patio, and front garden. As the leaves begin to turn and Rockport settles into its quieter autumn rhythm, Straitsmouth Cove offers a beautiful coastal retreat surrounded by fresh sea air and classic New England fall scenery.

Gap Cove, just across the country road, is a place of seaside wonder where you can scramble on the rocks, hunt for shells and seaglass or all manner of little crabs and ocean life ..... or just go for a swim. Put your kayak in or your stand up paddle board and head to Straitsmouth Island with it's paths to explore. From there you can go to Thatcher Island with its twin lighthouses for more exploration or just enjoy the views of Bearskin Neck.

Inside, you'll have plenty of space to get comfortable, with five bedrooms, two full baths and a generous living room with a massive antique brick fireplace. Straistmouth Cove has central AC to keep you cool on hot summer days. From every vantage point, the living spaces offer endless views of the sea, just beyond the home's expansive lawns and gardens.

The home is within walking distance of Rockport village with its famed Shalin Liu Performance Center, shops, galleries and restaurants.

Fabulous Family Time

We had a fabulous stay. The house was terrifically appointed, more bowls, cutting boards, etc than we could ever use--and we did a lot of cooking. Plenty of space inside and out--property managers we SO helpful. If family gathers again in Rockport we will definitely come again. High Recommendation!

Everything about this house, property and location was perfect for our family gathering. Family friendly, pet friendly, the host was very helpful, check in / checkout straightforward and simple. The cleaning crew arrived just as we were leaving and even they were extremely personable. The grounds are large and immaculately kept. A beautiful neighborhood with a beautiful view over the cove and beach access. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the layout of the house allowed for easy flow of traffic in our busy family. The house is child and pet friendly. We especially appreciated the plastic dishes in the kitchen for the children to use and the mudroom entry where we could leave our shoes and pet supplies. The house was very clean and the spacious yard immaculate with a beautiful view of the cove and Thatcher Island. The beach access was an additional treat. The kitchen is well laid out for easy movement with several cooks at a time. There were lots of dishes and just about anything you would need for preparing meals. The property is centrally located to the villages of Rockport and Gloucester. It is also an easy drive to Salem and Boston. We also loved mornings in the screened in porch as well as outside, and grilling out at night. The host was very responsive and the cleaning staff who arrived just as we were leaving where very personable. I can't say enough about this property and highly recommend stay here.

Wedding Retreat

Family and friends rented the house together to attend a wedding at the Hotel Beauport. The house was lovely and every morning we woke to the most beautiful sunrises over the ocean. There are great paths that are public to walk around the ocean - downtown Rockport is a short walk from the house. Everything worked properly in the house and all the rooms were lovely.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our extended family stayed here for a week in July. You could not ask for a better location or view. The home was clean, comfortable and had a good amount of space. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware and appliances. Unfortunately, the owners were in the middle of doing some work on the house and the "rec room" listed for the property, with a ping pong table, TV and seating, was filled with cedar shingles and unusable. This was a big disappointment since we felt like we did not get what we were told was part of the property rental. It is no longer included in the listing. There are also some updates that need to be done to make the porch usable.All in all we had a wonderful time and I would recommend this property to others with improvements made to the screened porch.

Spacious Place for a Covid Stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family absolutely hated this place, could not wait to leave. It reeked of low tide and dead fish, don’t even think of renting it. (I want it available for our return!) The only thing we actually found lacking was dish towels (more than 2 please) and lobster crackers and picks. The house is spacious and charming (it pains me to see the charm and New England fishing village updated away in Rockport homes). I thought there wasn’t much kitchen storage space based on the pictures so I was happy to see that the door next to the fridge was a pantry, not steps to the basement as I thought. With different family members getting together for the stay, all the room was great for "social distance"!
